Services
Founded by EMMY award winning lighting designer Jim Tetlow, Nautilus Entertainment Design provides innovative design solutions for live entertainment, television, and special event lighting, as well as technical facility design for permanent installations. Our goal is to create designs and systems that protect the owner's investment, while achieving the very best solutions to move our client's business forward.
At Nautilus Entertainment Design (NED) we are theatre consultants, lighting and A/V designers and project managers for a wide variety of themed entertainment, hospitality, and military projects world wide. We have 18 people on staff in our office in San Diego and have been in business for over 25 years.
A NED Associate Project Manager must go beyond simply following the progress and communications of a project. He or She must have the ability to read and produce detailed system concept packages (drawings and supporting paperwork) and have a grasp of the various designs of A/V systems, lighting systems and theatrical rigging and effects contained within the project design packages.
As theatre consultants and designers, we provide guidance, advice and support to owners, architects, and the design teams on the feasibility, planning, design, and equipping of theatres, concert halls, dance clubs, multimedia facilities and other types of complexes used for public assembly and the performing arts.
A lighting designer wears many hats. He or she is part artist, craftsperson, visionary, collaborator, technologist, communicator, economist, businessperson and sometimes psychologist all rolled into one. The designer must not only determine the creative challenges of a project but also determine and understand their limitations with respect to cost, venue and schedule.
