Gordon "Gordy" Gerhartz after honorably serving our country in World War II returned to Sheboygan in 1946 and started painting to support his new family. In 1947 Gordy established Gerhartz Decorating. Gordy continued to own and operate Gerhartz Decorating until 1981 when his only son Gary carried on the tradition the brush (torch so to speak) was passed.
Gary continues to manage the business to this day. Waiting in the wings, Gary's son Gavin has been involved with the business since 1987 and will continue the tradition. Gavin's son Nathan has just entered into the family business and hence we have four generations in the business.

If you need ideas for stain colors, we can either provide you with samples or we work with several local interior designers which can provide you additional guidance. Next, contact us and let us take over. Have existing cabinets, doors, baseboards or moldings which are worn or new woodwork which have never been stained?
Is your siding dirty? Does it contain mold spots? Mold can tend to grow on shady sides of buildings, but many times a good wash will bring the siding back to life. We have specialized equipment including pressure washers and environmentally friendly chemicals just for this task. Decks can be pressure washed as either preparatory, to receive new stain or sealant, or to just clean off dirt or mold.
