For 51 years and counting, Good Shepherd Preschool has been known as a place that provides children with quality, play-based learning in a nurturing environment. Good Shepherd Preschool is a co-educational, 1/2 day preschool serving children ages 33 months to 5 years. We welcome families from all backgrounds and religions.

Our classrooms, each staffed by 2 teachers, are bustling with excitement, energy, curiosity, empathy, discovery, and joy. Young minds glow and grow at Good Shepherd Preschool! Throughout their day with us, children participate in activities related to reading readiness, math concepts, science, social studies, arts and crafts, music and movement, and creative play.
Services
We are so happy you're interested Good Shepherd Preschool! If you are ready to register, the first step in becoming a Good Shepherd Preschool family is to fill out the Inquiry Form. This will put you in our system, called ChildPilot. We will follow up with an email "invitation" to create a parent portal.
Good Shepherd Preschool's curriculum is based on the theory that play is the most appropriate way for young children to learn. Through a variety of thematic units and hands on learning activities, children are provided with developmentally appropriate experiences, designed to foster confidence and curiosity through exploration and discovery.
This deposit is non-refundable, except for military families who provide proof of out-of-town orders. VA SCHOOL ENTRANCE HEALTH FORM: Every student must have the School Entrance Health Form in their file before starting school. It must be completed by the doctor's office. CHILD ID FORM: Prior to starting school, parents must present a birth certificate or passport for each child as proof of child's identity.
At Good Shepherd Preschool, children who are 3 years old have the option of enrolling in 2-day or 3-day per week classes, or registering for both so they can attend 5-days per week. For these students, play is their work. They are learning to socialize and transition from parallel play to cooperative play.
When visiting Good Shepherd Preschool, you will see children engaged in learning and play - listening, creating, imagining, singing, sharing, interacting, and concentrating. You will see our students learning about themselves and others, learning about feelings and communicating, learning about moving and doing.

My daughter went to this school 2 years. Great teachers and administrative staff. I would definitely recommend it to first time moms who are feeling anxious about putting their children in preschool.

Both of my sons went to Good Shepherd and had a wonderful experience. They both went for two years and each and every one of the teachers they had were caring professionals who truly loved and nurtured them. I love that they went on field trips throughout the year and were able to ride the bus, which prepared them for their transition into elementary school. They also went through their 5 day program and took advantage of the Lunch Bunch, which I felt truly gave them an advantage in Kindergarten and got them ready to go to school all day every day. This is our first year at Good Shepherd Preschool and we love it! From the moment I visited I was impressed with the warmness of the staff, the classroom set up, and the planned instruction. The teachers work on building excellent character traits as well as essential skills for reading readiness and motor skills to name a few. They also clearly know how to work with children. For example, before school officially begins the children may play in the Big Room (a large open room with toys, slides, basketball hoops, etc.).
