Bauen Group, LLC-Architecture and Design Studio is a full service architectural and land planning firm. Thomas W. Umbhau, AIA, the principal of the firm, is licensed to practice architecture in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Hawaii. Our architectural projects cover a broad spectrum of building types and sizes.

We, as architects creating architecture, are artistic and scientific translators. We listen closely to clients, visit sites and study context to publish a document called a 'design program'.
This document serves as a guide or outline that details the wants and needs of the client, the context of the project site, regulatory agency requirements, site conditions, solar orientation, design styles, lifestyle of the users and many other factors that contribute to a constructing a building or home.We are artists that take all these program items and translate them into three-dimensional space.

It is a misconception that architectural services are reserved for large budgets and wealthy individuals. Bauen Group, LLC believes that architectural design should be available for everyone. Conceptual design is an important part of our practice. It is creative thought based on a client's needs and wants, translated to loose, quick, hand drawn concept sketches and computer modeling that conveys design thought.
Bauen Group LLC, Architecture and Design Studio designed a home that was entered into the Southwest Homebuilders 2018 Parade of Homes by the Krueger Group. The residence was constructed by the Krueger Group of Durango Colorado. The residence was awarded the People Choice Award-Best in Class for homes ranging from $600,000 to $1,000,000.
As a designer and 'maker' of things, and having received positive feedback from family and friends, we decided to start a small retail therapy page to share functional, creative items with the world. We will also showcase items of other designers and makers that we review and find functional and beautiful and fits with our philosophy of things.
One of Bauen Group's goals is to have architectural design be accessible to everyone. Not everyone has the time, patience, willingness, desire and finances to delve into the custom design process. Recognizing this, Bauen Group has made available selected sets of drawings available at two different price points.
