For our youngest students, learning that the world outside of the home can be a fun and safe place is important. Nurturing and warm teachers will respond to children's needs to help them transition into a positive first school experience. One and two year old children participate in art, short story times, bible story, and outdoor play.

We encourage social experiences through playing and interacting with peers in daily routines within the classroom. Children practice taking turns, sharing, and listening to stories in addition to their daily activities.
Services
Since 1979, FUMC Preschool and Mother's Day Out has provided a high quality, developmentally appropriate, Christian learning environment for children 6 months - 5 years old. Our school provides learning opportunities through creative thinking and play. We nurture emotional, physical, academic, social and spiritual development through daily play and interactions with peers and teachers.
Our Preschool is led by a group of individuals who care deeply in providing the a loving atmosphere for children to learn and grow! Meet our leaders below. In addition to our leadership staff, our program is governed by a Board composed of members of First United Methodist Church, both parents and non-parents as well as parents who are not members of First United Methodist Church and staff representatives.
Predictable routines and loving care help them feel secure in their classroom and school environment. Toddlers play and learn through a variety of experiences such as story time, art, sensory exploration, bible story, and music and movement activities. They learn important self-help skills such as walking in a line, feeding themselves and taking turns.
The focus of our 2 year old classes is to encourage social skills and provide a fun and engaging early school experience. Loving caregivers assist children in learning to separate from their parents and feel safe at school. In our 2 year old classes, children are introduced to the concept of learning centers which change weekly based on theme (for example: dinosaurs or gardening).
Children may attend between one and four days each week (family preference). Our three year old classes promote children's growth and development in a more structured learning environment. Daily schedules include center time, outdoor play, lunch, naptime, calendar time, show and share, bible story and circle time.
