New Hope was established in 1993. The agency provides community based services, residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment and prevention/intervention services to the South Miami-Dade community. The Founder, Manuel A. Alvarez (Manny), who died in 2009, dedicated his life to helping others following a spiritual experience.
This experience occurred after many years in active addiction. Manny, at the age of 39, pursued his career in the field of addiction receiving a Masters Degree from Barry University. Manny was the original Program Director of a local treatment program, Agape Women's Center, who developed program's entire treatment concept (1987).

This place does an incredibly great job of helping person suffering from addiction and mental illnesses. The organization provides for homeless people free of charge substance abuse and alcohol treatment that is second to none evidence based. Once homeless clients are cleaned New Hope helps them get jobs and successfully discharge them into permanent housing. And they do all that with very small budget. Clients who qualify for food stamps need to surrender their food stamps and the organization use that money to cover part of the food cost. The food expenses are closely monitored by the state to

This place is awful with helping clients. They gave my huspand only one chance and kicked him out for some petty stuff. How is that helping people. They act like there their receiving perfectly stable non addict people into the program. People go to change their lives. I honestly could say this program is no good, and its very unprofessional and lenient with their own rules. But strict with clients. They literally just drive the men to CHI and leave them there with no suppervision. Same thing when they go to church. Last time they left a guy behind , they even lack doing head count. No structure
