Some history on how Santa Barbara's longest-running tree care and landscape company came about. 60+ years and still going strong. Tom Gosnell, founder of Gosnell Tree, won the very first International Society of Arboriculture International Tree Climbing Championship in 1976 and became the world champion.
He was also in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the fastest tree climber in the world. Tom Gosnell and the Gosnell family have been an integral part of the Tree Care and Landscape community in Santa Barbara since 1959. With over 60 years of experience, we pride ourselves on exceptional and honest service.

From the towering Californian Sequoias to Japan's peaceful bamboo forests to the Philippine's colorful Rainbow Eucalyptus, beautiful trees can be found throughout the world - and in your backyard! While nature is pretty adept at tree care, you may find yourself needing some assistance from the professional arborists at Gosnell Tree & Landscape in order to preserve the health and beauty of your trees.
Trees don't just spring up out of nowhere - they take years and years to grow into a sturdy, sizeable asset to your landscaping, so the decision to remove a tree is always a hard one. Unfortunately, many circumstances make tree removal necessary, and even some cases in which emergency tree removal is imperative.
It may look as simple as slicing off a branch here and there, but proper tree trimming and pruning require an artful hand and a scientific understanding of how your actions will affect your tree. While there are instances where DIY tree trimming is acceptable - such as removing smaller dead branches or clipping back unwanted growth - for the most part, pruning and trimming should be left to professional arborists with the necessary experience.

Gosnell Tree Service was exceedingly professional and did an incredible job trimming our trees in our back yard. (And ultimately removing a tree.) We highly recommend them. They were on time and cleaned up whatever mess afterward. They also had very good pricing. 5 Stars.

I was more than pleased with the reasonably priced bid, careful supervision, and dedicated crew. We hired Gosnell Tree and Landscape to prune, thin, and lace three different trees in our yard. They beautifully thinned and trimmed our front yard olive tree and backyard Jacaranda. The trees still somehow look full, but so much more light is coming through and we can see that all the dead wood is gone. They also did a masterful job of crowning a large ficus and trimming it way back on our neighbor's side, but still keeping it as a privacy screen for our side. I felt that it was a tricky
