Soul Survivor was the natural result of a prior counseling service contract between Andrea and the Abused Adult Resource Center of Bismarck, North Dakota. This was a collaboration designed to provide Bismarck/Mandan and surrounding communities with specialized mental health services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
Andrea is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and founder of Soul Survivor. She graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1991 with a master's degree in community counseling and a bachelor's degree in psychology. She has provided professional counseling and advocacy services to survivors of trauma/personal injury crimes for 30 years.
Telemental health refers to psychotherapy services that occur through videochat. Telemental health entails utilizing a computer or phone to virtually attend your counseling session through HIPAA compliant software (provided by us). Allows counselors to connect with people who may not otherwise be able to access services--such as individuals in rural areas or with mobility or transportation issues.
Our first responders are defined as any person, such as a police officer, firefighter, EMT, or any other official trained in urgent medical care and other emergency procedures who is prepared to provide life-saving measures and secure community safety in response to the scene of an accident, disaster, or other life-threatening circumstances.
We are often asked to testify, provide records, and write affidavits for both criminal and civil court proceedings on behalf of SSCS clients. It is important to note that a therapist's involvement in court matters for clients can adversely affect the protection of confidential client information and the positive relationship between client and therapist, both of which are essential for successful therapy.
