Although there is not a specific age a child should start orthodontics, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends children to receive their first orthodontic screening by the age of seven. By age seven, most children's teeth have started emerging, and adult teeth begin to form. By performing an initial orthodontic screening early on, we can determine possible issues that may be arising.
The ages of 11 to 15 is the most common time to begin orthodontic treatments, and for a good reason. By age 12, most, if not all of your children's permanent teeth have erupted and crooked teeth or bad bites can easily be noticed. These types of problems will not correct themselves naturally, so most people seek orthodontic care.

I just want to give a huge shout out to Dr. Heaps and Dr. Joe. My daughter has a really complicated case, they have given me the assurance I need to move forward with her treatment. They do everything they can to do what’s best for all of their patients. Thank you for everything you do to get the best possible results!
