The Acupuncture Journey combines life coaching because lifestyle assessment and "tweaking" are always addressed. The biggest difference between eastern and western medicine is the empowerment for the patient. Acupuncture is the practice of stimulating the meridians of the body to effect our qi (or Energy).
Traditionally, the meridians have been stimulated by using needles to insert through the acupuncture points on the skin. An acupuncturist is trained to diagnose where the imbalances are in the body (mind and spirit), that are causing the symptoms. Encompasses several methods designed to help patients achieve and maintain health.

Services
My career began as a Registered Nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where I specialized in Med/Surgical nursing and later Psychiatric nursing when I received my Masters Degree in Nursing at the University of Maryland. My graduate degree in Nursing was a natural first step into the holistic approach and philosophy of my graduate degree in Chinese Medicine.
I believe that even if my acupuncture needles are 'magic bullets, ' the acupuncture and Chinese medicine process would be much less effective if my patient didn't have an adequate nutritional foundation. Americans have a diet rich in calories and profoundly deficient in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential oils, etc.
I do recommend nutritional supplementation. My favorite nutritional support system can be further explored at the following website: Jill takes Juice Plus. Juice Plus provides the nutritional essence of 17 different fruits, vegetables and grain in a convenient capsule form. Juice Plus+ is whole food based nutrition, including juice powder concentrates from 30 different fruits, vegetables and grains.
Good health starts with good habits, like eating wholesome foods. And with Tower Garden, you can easily grow your own fresh, nutrient-rich food virtually anywhere, yearround, without soil. Tower Garden, a vertical, aeroponic growing system, allows you to grow up to 20 vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers in less than three square feet-indoors or out.
My treatment of my patients is not exclusively focused on acupuncture, because Chinese Medicine is about the treatment of the "whole" person. This is the basis of Holistic medicine. Lifestyle coaching is also a large part of the journey back to wellness. Lifestyle evaluation incorporates exercise, hydration, rest, relaxation, work life, family and relationship life, and more.
