At New Jersey Natural Family Health, we provide our patients with healthcare based on a natural approach to integrative medicine. Our approach is unique because we are deeply rooted in the ancient methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine, but have an in-depth knowledge of Western Medicine.

Because most patients are currently under the care of a Western Medical physician, this method of practice allows us to utilize the theory and modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine while incorporating a modern understanding of the symptoms and diseases that patients are facing in today's world.

Dr. Shannon DiCarlo RN LAc DAOM began her career as a trauma nurse at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. From there, she continued her career at Georgetown University Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, and NYU Medical Center. Her passion was always holistic medicine, and through her own independent studies, it became apparent that optimal wellness is achieved through a combination of both Western and Eastern methods.
Acupuncture has been a valuable method of addressing medical issues for thousands of years. By inserting tiny, sterile needles into specific points on the body, we can initiate the body's own ability to heal, control pain, and address symptoms. Because each patient is unique, we develop a plan of individually selected points for each individual patient that will address both current symptoms and the underlying cause to achieve optimal health.
Acupuncture uses tiny, sterile needles to stimulate the body's own ability to heal. We use specific points that correspond to symptoms, disorders, and root causes of illness. When these thin needles are inserted into the chosen points, we can affect circulation, hormones, organ function, and more.
A natural approach to integrative medicine operates on a theory that the body has a natural ability to heal and recover if given the proper tools. Today, many people feel bombarded with mixed messages about how to approach healing. Our goal is to form a union with our patients as we develop a plan together to achieve full wellness.
In Chinese Medicine, auriculotherapy involves placing small seeds or pellets on the external ear to alleviate symptoms and address issues in other parts of the body. The site of these seeds are carefully chosen for each patient to correspond to each particular concern. The seeds remain for three days and are removed easily at home, much as you would remove a small Band-Aid.

Dr. DiCarlo @ New Jersey Natural Family Health is exceptional! She is very detailed in your "intake" and is able to give you more than just the Chinese version and prognosis since she was also an RN. I love that she balances the Western with the Eastern practice. Her offices are Zen like and clean. I never have to wait for my appointment, and its a pleasant atmosphere.
I have had an amazing transformation since seeing her for the 1st time in May 2017. She has been able to help set my body on a healing process from both her acupuncture sessions, as well as the essential oils that she adds based
