VaZa Salon

My new salon! I have curly hair and I'm very picky about where I get my hair cut. I've had two different stylists cut my hair and both gave an amazing cut. Very convenient that you can schedule an appointment online as well.

Came in for a balayage and was super excited bc this place specializes in curly highlights. I couldn’t fully see the results as it was close to closing so there wasn’t enough time to dry my hair. When my hair was dry the next morning, I could see that the highlights on my head were extremely streaky and way too light. I ended up having to dye the top so it would blend better. Considering how much money they charge and the fact that I showed the stylist my reference photos twice, I’m extremely disappointed with the service.

I called for a haircut and the only available was a Level 1 hairdresser (Morgan). I specifically asked on the phone if she knows how to cut hair and I was told she's actually really good. Complaints:
1. She left me waiting in the middle of my haircut 3-4 times to attend other customers.
2. Haircut: I asked a simple layering and face framing. I have long and easy to work with hair. She did not do a single measurement, the cutting "technique" was "grab some hair and cut off the ends". To be honest with you, the first time I went I wasn't sure if I would return. The work was good, but the customer service wasn't that great. However, Jenna was awesome. Not only did she do a good job on my hair, she made sure to ask questions and show me different ways things could work with my hair. She was pleasant and knowledgeable. I hope she is there when I return!

Service is excellent, staff was wonderful, courteous, and knowledgeable of coloring hair and textures of hair. The only problem 🙄 I had was the $$$ I have been getting my hair in these colors for 2 years and it was perfect $$was on point and what I expected. Been going here for a year and have totally fallen in love! So much talent in one salon. I have shuffled between three stylists and have always walked out BEYOND satisfied. From the remarkably relaxing, clean, comfortable & modern atmosphere to the exceptional haircuts and color, VaZa feels like a 5-star NYC salon. My daughters whole service was rushed with 3 people switching doing her hair. How am I supposed to tip when 3 young girls are experimenting with my daughters hair. Every time I come to this salon I regret it. I have been here 3 times, basically once every 2 years and I think to myself maybe next time I'll like it so I go back. It's such a nightmare coming here. Last time & this time I was called to move my appointment back 30 minutes- I am not sure if this is due to a previous client being late or the hairdresser getting behind but this time it really threw my day off. The absolute best curly cut and overall salon experience ever!!! The staff is patient, kind and extremely well trained. From the moment I walked in was treated royally. My coat was hung in the closet, I was escorted to a dressing room to put a beautiful wrap over my clothes, I was offered a beverage and a stylish and comfy place to relax. First of all, the staff is doing an excellent job of ensuring customers' safety post-COVID reopenings. Masks are required, stylists had face shields on, styling stations were separated with plastic covers- they have a ton of safety measures in place.

When I first decided to give VaZa a try, my hair was in awful shape. I had recently gotten the worst haircut of my life quite possibly, and thought there was no repairing it. My curly cut with Val was one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. At first I was nervous to get my hair cut dry, but Val listened to what I wanted, which was to keep my length. She explained what she was doing, and what to do to keep my hair healthy. After the cut, I got my hair washed and styled, again with every step being explained in detail. I have not worn my hair down curly in almost 15 years, after my cut and style, I wore it down for two days! Since Val has been cutting and coloring my hair, my hair has changed dramatically. She taught me to embrace my curls and the best process for me to get them to be perfect every time I wash them at home. The staff is great, and every time I go they make sure you are comfortable throughout your appointment. If you have curly hair, VaZa is definitely the place to go.
