I know that starting counseling can be scary. I try to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible. Life can be rough, unfair, and downright painful sometimes. I believe I have been called to help people, like you, get through those tough times. I have a knack for making people feel comfortable and safe.
My secret is that I really care about you! I can see your gifts, your unique personality, and your value. I help you recognize that you are one-of-a-kind, and that you are somebody that can bless other people. The things that make me happiest in my work are helping strengthen your gifts, develop your vision for your future, and cheering you on as you take the necessary risks to see your dreams come true.

Services
I specialize in working with individuals (16 years and up) who are experiencing life stressors, mild to moderate mental health issues, and trauma. I use a specialized treatment called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy and a humanist/existenial perspective to help each client become congruent with themselves- in mind, body, and spirit.
My training and experience is in mental health counseling in a community health private practice. I believe counseling is a very sensitive process. A counselor must have the right training to keep his clients safe. Safety is the most important aspect of counseling. There are many ethical dilemmas that could and will arise during therapy.
I help people desensitize the pain that is locked in the nervous system and memories of traumatic events. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT; a form of talk therapy) is done in conjunction with EMDR or for those clients that prefer not to use EMDR. EMDR is not talk therapy. It has components of talk therapy, such as, we do talk to each other, but is considered a body-oriented therapy.
The Keystone Health Crisis Intervention Hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help with each individual crisis situation. No appointment is necessary. Walk-in services are only available Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
