The Beaver House Restaurant is one of Statesboro's favorite restaurants. When the Beaver House opened, it was one of only a few family owned Statesboro restaurants. Most of the restaurants in Statesboro were fast food restaurants. There were only a few full service restaurants in Statesboro, Ga. Your choice of restaurants in Statesboro was simply few and far between.

My great-grandfather John Alexander McDougald built this house in 1911. At the time, Main Street was lined with comparable homes built from the windfalls of Sea Island Cotton and other agricultural success stories of Bulloch County around the turn of the century. John was elected mayor of Statesboro during this time and our house was used to entertain friends, relatives and business associates.
The Beaver House Restaurant is a popular location for catering in Statesboro, Ga. We like to say, "Friends Have Gathered Here for Almost A Century". Our Restaurant is large enough to entertain several hundred people at a wedding reception and intimate enough to have a 50th Anniversary party in a private dining room.
If you don't mind having a heart attack after lunch for good food, this is the place for you. Good greasy southern soul. This bakery was great. The food was really good, the employees were very informative and they always had a smile on. Randy Linto Rating: 3. Type: Bagel & Donut Shops, Restaurants, Coffee Houses the owner smokes inside the building and doesnt.
In our family, Clay is the now the story teller. He has a memory for the details of things like ghost stories. He will screw up a good joke, but he can tell a pretty good ghost story. I can only assume he got his story telling skills from my dad. He couldn't really tell a joke either. He just never could get to the punch line.
Walking through the Historic Beaver House Restaurant, Pennsylvania resident Holly Metcalf wore an intense look on her face. It was obvious she was searching for something, but in most cases, the objects she sought cannot be seen. She was looking for spirits - what some call ghosts - in the house. The Beaver family said the house is haunted with the spirits of ancestors and a little girl who died after an accident there - long, long ago.

Food was ok. VERY disappointed to have to pay $2 each for three waters. Never paid for water at any restaurant, anywhere, anytime. Almost certainly guaranteed to never return.

Had Sunday lunch today..
Rude management/owner when we entered. Food took a long time & was cold & no seasoning. Biscuits were dry & horrible. We asked 3 times for drink refills, ketchup, & gravy for the terrible cold instant potatoes. We never hot refills & they brought the rest as we decided to exit. They wont get our business ever again. I would give them no stars, but it isn't a choice.

I found this little gem of a restaurant snuggled in a historic old southern house in downtown Statesboro. The price was incredible... $10 for all you can eat family-style buffet, and $4 for dessert. The meat portions were small, but given the volume of food provided, absolutely fine, and you can ask for more! Now for the bad. The service was soooooo slow. Waited for 10 minutes, didn't get my drink for 20 minutes, and 30 for the food. The waiter needs a few tips on managing a busy crowd, since there was only one. Not surprising, given the labor shortage. Greet your customers, get their drinks, make

Although I did give the Beaverhouse five stars, those are five qualified stars. As in, "If you're looking for classical Southern Dishes served family style in a setting ripped right out of Gone With the Wind, this is the place." The food was really good, great Southern classics: fried chicken, baked ham, butter beans, macaroni and cheese, sliced tomatoes, rice and gravy, and, of course, biscuits. And it wasn't overly heavy. I thouroughly enjoyed the experience.

Love this place! Love the atmosphere. It's like you stepped back in time and are eating at your grandma's table again.

Service was decent but the food was abysmal. Maybe it was a bad day for the kitchen, but there was absolutely no flavor there at all. There's too much good food out there to bother giving "southern comfort food" a second chance, when I can go to a ton of better places and actually have some flavor on my plate.

If you want to experience true southern food and I mean this is the real deal folks! Everything from cathead biscuits(a term I heard from my grandma all my life) to peach cobbler that will literally melt in your mouth if you haven't been here I have one thing to say. What the heck are you waiting for????? From the staff the food and o my what a story and it's all true wow. Beautifully decorated in antique southern style this is a class act. I truly can not do

The Beaver House was great. The food was very good. The mac n cheese is just the best. We had fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy. Rice and green beans, brocoli. We also had biscuits and salad. There was so much food. It's also very beautiful inside. We loved all the furniture.
