What began as a small business between two friends, handling furniture sales and deliveries through Craigslist has turned into a 7,000 sq ft storefront business, run by brothers, Daniel and Steven who came up with the idea to help design and sell custom made sofas after realizing that the only way to meet a customer's needs is to give them exactly what they want.

Customer service. Customer service. Customer service. That's what separates a business like this from big box stores. We all have been dealing with supply chain and worker shortages but to handle this situation with professionalism and answering calls promptly was the most important thing. My wife and I were looking for an affordable Mid-Century Modern Sectional Sofa. Tall ask these days. No retailers around us had anything that we wanted. Anything that came close was very expensive and the lead times were ridiculous.
We were a little weary about buying a couch without actually seeing/sitting on it, but we ended up getting exactly what we wanted at a very good price. Solid craftsmanship and attention to detail. I still can't believe we were able to get a completely custom sectional for what we paid and the timeline we got it in.

I am really happy with the sofa! The wait was a bit long (2 months), but totally worth it. I did look up online, but I am very hesitant with online sofa (experienced once). I prefer to feel the materials & the comfort. Luckily I found What A Room. Steven was helping me and offered to get my sofa customized the sizes that fit my living room (this is awesome). The sofa came, the delivery guys were really kind, the service was great!

This is our second order from What A Room and we couldn't be more pleased. The team is super easy to work with and made great suggestions to help us ensure the sectional was proportional and fit our new space. Our first couch is still downstairs and holding up pretty well (with the exception of one leg which the puppy got to). We will continue to be repeat customers!

Ive purchased multiple times from this store. Everything was fine until the point that i ordered a living room set from this store. During this encounter I spoke with STEVEN on numerous occasions and provided him with the proper measurements of my home. He pretended to be a rep when it turns out that he is owner. Going back and forth before ultimately deciding and assuring me that this would fit and for future delivery. Highly recommended! The staff at What A Room was so helpful in helping us find our master bed and dining room set. Steven showed us the many possiblities to customize the couch to the styles, sizes and firmness we like. He generated a 3D design to show us how they would look in our room based on the photos we provided. He also gave very good suggestions on the overall room design and style matching. Recently moved to the Bay Area, and wanted to find a great couch to fit my awkwardly arranged floor plan. The designers at What a Room helped me maximize my space and designed a really great couch, at a great value. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted, but still received the couch in a reasonable time considering delays due to Covid and general industry supply shortages. Steven was very helpful in providing us with different bed frame suggestions. He was always quick to respond to my many questions via email and provided a lot of valuable insight. When we decided to go fully custom on our bed frame, he was very attentive to all the details and always kept us in the loop throughout the process.

Dan made the process of furnishing our apartment so easy for my Wife and I. He was very attentive and showed us around the showroom providing tons of details on all the items that caught our eye.
I appreciated the fact that whatever he did not have in the store he quickly located in various furniture catalogs. We eventually purchased a super cozy chair (which he gave us a great deal on) and I was able to bring it home the same day.
My wife really wanted a bar cart and Dan was able to find one for us, order it and had his guys deliver it within a week. Not to mention they put it together for us

I love that I was able to customize this sofa. I wanted our sofa at a specific height so I can put my arms on the back. The delivery crew were really polite and nice. They even built the bed and the nightstand for me free of charge. But of course, I tipped them. I’m happy with the order. They are busy when you go to their showroom, go online or sit and check the catalog. Be patient as it is worth just ordering from them. We have 3 more rooms to furnish and we’re just gonna order from them.

Such a quick and painless process. Daniel gave us all our options and helped pick out the couch design, fabric, color, height, depth, degree of softness and even our preference of shape for the arms. We never felt pressured but still got plenty of guidance when we needed it. We got exactly what we were expecting. Great experience overall and beautiful product!
