Mathes Brierre Architects actually started in the year of 1891 when Charles A. Favrot and L.A. Livaudais founded the firm of Favrot & Livaudais. Almost 44 years later, H Mortimer Favrot, kin to Charles Favrot, and Alan C. Reed advanced into full partnership and created Favrot & Reed. In 1949, Earl L. Mathes and William E. Bergman became partners in the organization, changing the name of the firm to Favrot, Reed, Mathes & Bergman.
A few years after the passing of H Mortimer Favrot and Alan C. Reed, the name of the firm was changed to Mathes, Bergman & Associates. Most of the buildings shown here and several others by the film are labeled National Historic Landmarks.

Mathes Brierre Architects of New Orleans, Louisiana, is the latest evolution of a design firm founded in 1891 by Charles A. Favrot and L.A. Livaudais. The firm has changed several times during the course of a century, but remains one of the oldest and consistently successful architectural firms in the country.
