In January of 1996, Smith Sensei began his formal study with Sensei Shane Topp, who is the current head instructor of Eugue-Ryu Karate-Jutsu. Eugue Ryu KarateJutsu is a system of Karate and Jujutsu founded by Kensenzu Yamaegue. Smith Sensei takes every opportunity to train in other arts and learn from other instructors, all the while comparing them to Topp Sensei and the Eugue-Ryu system.
Eugue-Ryu was originally founded by Kensenzu Yamaeugue as a Japanese Jujutsu system that specialized in Ate-waza (striking technique). The system was moved from Japan to a Japanese occupied area of Korea where it was undoubtedly influenced by Korean Martial Arts.

With 23 years of martial arts experience, Sensei Ron Smith is committed to providing the best in martial arts training and selfprotection concepts available. Ron holds the rank of 6th degree Black Belt in Karatejutsu and Jujutsu and the rank of 3rd degree Black Belt in Iaido. He has also spent many years working with and understanding edged weapon combatives concepts and is a certified ATAC instructor through Jukido-Kai School of martial arts.
Advancing through the rank system is an important part of how we gauge progress in our training. My hope is to answer some of these questions and to relieve some anxieties. After approximately three to four months of training a new student may begin to expect to see his or her name appear on the list posted on the bulletin board as well as on the website under "testing."
He began his formal study with Sensei Michael Young. Sensei Young was the head instructor of Eugue-Ryu Karate-Jutsu, a system of karate and jujitsu founded by Kensenzu Yamaegue. In 1998, Topp was chosen as one of four head instructors given charge of the Eugue-Ryu system. Topp Sensei expanded his training to include many other arts and instructors including Dr. Jake D. Allen Soke, founder of American Jukido Ryu.

Sensei Ron Smith is an amazing teacher and person. He changed my kids life. Learning karate was the best thing that has happened to both of my kids. My daughter Emily and my son Michael both lost their central vision when they were 10 years old and could no longer play organized sports due to blind spots in their vision. Sensei's Smith dedication to teaching and his patience is remarkable. I truly believe that through karate, both of my kids have learned discipline, leadership, and confidence that has helped them both to be successful in school and life. I will be forever grateful for the day that

We love the center for traditional martial arts! Our son has been taking classes since he was seven and is currently one belt away from achieving his black belt. He has grown in self confidence and has learned so many self defense techniques. The sensei's are very attentive and patient with the students, I highly recommend them!

We are very happy with the Center for Traditional Martial arts and what it has done for Ben. In just a little over a year he has gained confidence and has also learned a lot. Sensei Smith is tough and has high expectations, but it's easy to see he genuinely cares for all the kids in the class. Highly recommend. (Ben is in the Union County YMCA class)
