In 1978, Pat and Fred Janssen moved from St. Louis to Edgemont, AR to buy a motel with a leased restaurant attached. The next year, the couple who ran the restaurant didn't renew their lease, so the Janssen's decided to run the restaurant themselves which meant their three children (Julie, Tim & Fred, Jr.) "got" to work there too.
Pat and Fred shared cooking duties with comfort foods like fried fish, meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes and burgers. However, every Sunday, Fred cooked his famous fried chicken and no one ever knew what option he might offer with it. Quail, squirrel or pheasant, whatever he had shot the day before! The guests loved it!

We were working in the area and this place was recommended by our customer. Food was fantastic! Wham Bam shrimp was perfect, soup and salad bar was very good, maybe the best baked potato soup I have ever had. Portions are large; I split the 1/2# burger with my daughter and neither one of us could finish the side of fries. Desserts are made in house and looked so good we had to take home a slice of cheesecake and one of the 6 layer chocolate cake. They were both fantastic! I hope we work in the area again so we can stop by!

We celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary here! I am so happy we decided to celebrate here. We were seated near the window, so we had a beautiful lake view, while we dined here. The service was great and the food was delicious, with a great variety of food to select off of the menu. They have a nice salad bar, with dressings made in house (except Caesar). After almost completing our meal, we asked our server, if we could take our dessert to go and get some plastic silverware, so we could go out on the outside tables to eat it. She took care of us. Outside was plenty of tables, to sit at and watch

I was really excited for some great food but was sadly disappointed in my fish. First time eating here and had heard really great things about the food. Maybe it was just this particular fish. I probably should have stuck with steak. The dessert however, was to die for!!! The pieces of cake took up a WHOLE To-Go plate! Phenomenal! The dessert is what made this a 4 star rating for me.

Clean, fun little stop to grab a bite to eat! Pretty view of the lake as well. We found this restaurant the day before they closed for the season so we missed out on several dishes, but the remaining choices were plenty. Entire staff was super friendly and it seemed they had a lot of "regulars" who were stopping in one last time before they closed for winter. I'm eager to go back in spring...the cheesecakes looked amazing! :)

Got a love a place were you can dock your boat and go get some food.
We were told it would be an hour wait but only ended up being 20 mins.
We ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer (nice and spicy like I like them), we also ordered the prime rib special with the salad bar.
Salad bar was nothing special but fresh.
My prime rib was a little over cooked. I ordered medium but got medium well. It has good flavor and the mashed potatoes and green bean sides were good.
We were so full that we had to take a piece of their famous pies and cakes with us for desert. The carrot cake was the only one
