Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) was nicknamed The Farm when it opened in 1935 due to its rural location. That is hard to imagine now, as PHX is located 3 miles from downtown Phoenix. The most recent terminal was completed in 1990, giving PHX 3 terminals. There are over 30,000,000 parking spaces at PHX.
Portland International Airport (PDX) is Oregon's largest airport. Construction on the current terminals and adjacent light-rail lines were completed on 9/10/01. Because the events of 9/11/01 changed the climate of travel forever, concourses that were designed as public spaces were thereafter restricted to ticketed passengers only.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is the largest airport in the San Francisco Bay area, and the busiest airport in California behind Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). SFO has had a facelift in recent years, not only making it more aesthetically pleasing, but a monorail linking to the Rental Car Center was added.
