My practice is deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a form of holistic medicine comprised of acupuncture, dietary and herbal therapy, moxibustion, cupping, breathing exercises, and massage.
Utilizing my training in spiritual direction, I also facilitate personal and spiritual exploration for those who seek it. In my over 30 years of experience treating a wide variety of health concerns with acupuncture and Chinese herbs in Davis, I have developed a philosophy of care that sees patients as individuals, not as diseases or problems to be treated.

Payment is required at time of treatment. Cash, check, credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, and Android Pay are all accepted. I am not an in-network provider with any insurance company. Payment is due at the time of the visit. If you have insurance which covers acupuncture, please let me know at the beginning of the appointment and I can give you a Superbill to submit for reimbursement.

Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining inside your uterus (the endometrium) is found outside of it, usually within the pelvic cavity. I had a great first experience with acupuncture and am so glad that I chose to see Johanna. She immediately made me feel at ease in her quiet, intimate office. She was also able to fit me into her schedule right away after calling to get in to help my breech baby flip. Johanna used moxibustion to help my baby flip naturally and taught me how to use them myself to take home. She even contacted me the day after my appointment to see how I was doing and to follow up. I’d highly recommend her for those struggling with psychological and emotional trauma. Her fees are reasonable ($75/session) and she’s very gentle when putting in the needles. She genuinely cares about her clients’ well-being and is an extraordinarily good listener.
I was born and raised in China, so I never doubted that acupuncture could treat and cure minor illnesses and major diseases alike. Acupuncture is definitely not placebo effect. I’ve witnessed how acupuncture CURED some diseases that my parents had. But I never expected that some needles could help me with emotional trauma.

It's acupuncture and more. That's how I would describe my experience with Johanna Utter. She provides one on one treatment, tips on how to make my health problems easier to manage and most of all, Johanna does the best she can to answer questions I might have during my appointment. She seems to have answers to questions I would ask her. Of course when she doesn't have the answer at the moment, she'll remember the question I had the next time I see her. She's amazing.

She really took the time to listen - and really hear - everything I had to say, and asked gentle questions to get to know me and my particular situation. Johanna has used several techniques with me (acupuncture, cupping, massage, traditional Chinese medicines), and thoroughly answered my questions.
The office is a quiet and calm place, despite the busy intersection outside.
I would certainly recommend her practice to friends.
