Saucehouse BBQ expanded to Atlanta from Athens in the Fall of 2017 and caters the entire Metro Area! My partner and I were visiting Athens, GA for the first time as she was offered a faculty position at UGA.
Having lived in Louisiana, good BBQ is very important to me, and my partner really wanted to have some good Southern BBQ. So, after deciding on Saucehouse BBQ, we walked over from our hotel.
The restaurant looks nice. It does feel like a cafeteria, but we were all about it. The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly, even offering us some free mac and cheese!
However, the food was....not good. We got the pulled pork, brisket, mac-n-cheese, Georgia hash, and green beans.

We did a catered event for 50 for our sons graduation party. Their food is great or why would we have been there? The room was on premises, outside entrance and includes a bathroom. They have rooms for 20, 50 or 100. We were given access early to the room to set up. Summerlin was our server and she was over the top for the whole event. The catering coordinator came in on her off day to ensure everything was good. I could not add anything they could have done to make it a more memorable event. Thank you Saucehouse!

First, the good:
The gentlemen running the front were INCREDIBLY friendly, and recommended a local craft beer that was delicious! They even through in a free Mac and cheese.
The not-so-good:
We wanted to like this place SO badly. However, the seats were dirty, sauce bottles greasy, pulled pork and brisket were dry, Mac and cheese incredibly grainy.
I will say the sauces were delicious (and beer was really good -- my partners sister owns a brewery, and we are definitely beer-heads. The craft beer was delicious).
We REALLY hope this was a one-off as we may be moving here.

This was a happy surprise! As we were scoping out Athens, we decided we wanted some barbeque for lunch and happened to drive right by Saucehouse. As we walked in, we were instantly greeted. The ladies prepping our food were very patient. I ordered the pulled pork with a baked potato, Mac and cheese, and a side salad. The pulled pork was delicious. I tried the house sauce with it and it did not disappoint. The baked potato was delicious with butter and cheese sauce. My mom had the brisket and she said it just melted in her mouth. We left very pleased!

Definitely a college crowd hangout. Cafeteria style complete with trays. The staff was friendly but it was obvious there was only a couple really in the know about the kitchen. They were out of baked potatoes at 7pm. The BBQ pork was tender but nothing special. Fast food BBQ. The stew was pretty good as well as the fried okra. The chips for the nachos were close to stale. Not the place for true BBQ lovers.

Visit was a little disappointing. The food was over priced and the portions very small sides are served in 4 ounce portions. Then they charge me a service fee and I paid with cash so I ended up paying 3% more and should not have. And the cashier gave me back incorrect change. Was over all bad experience.

This place has amazing food! The brisket was excellent without a drop of sauce... but the suggested white sauce knocked it even further out of the ball park! What a home run! The Georgia hash was so good it made my mouth water..and I never- ever-order mac 'n' cheese in a restaurant but this was excellent! My family got the pulled pork and the house sauce..and I have to say it too was a slam dunk... but I was so happy with my meal - that it was just a bonus ...but the house sauce was terrific! One side dish that did not knock it out of the park was the green bean casserole which normally is a family

Holy cow this place is absolutely delicious. I stopped by Athens to check out UGA and got some take out for lunch. I had pulled pork, baked beans, and their famous Mac n cheese and enjoyed it while touring campus. Some of the most amazing BBQ I've had in a long time. Also, their Hawaiian rolls are must with the pulled pork. I'll be back!

This is the most amazing mouth watering BbQ saucy foodie experience in the whole world!!! And the staff is excellant really make you feel welcomed and no rushing you out! The atmosphere is very inviting & I just loved being there rustic & cozy overlooking the fountain porch swing surrounded by trees! Ceiling fans made being outdoors really enjoyable. Gotta have their made from scratch mac & very cheese & the collard greens are as good as Mom's!
So worth the 55 minute drive. This is the ultimate go to for BBQ its all about the sauce!

As I was exploring Athens, GA, I searched BBQ on Yelp! I was sold on a place that speaks volumes to sauceaholics like me. What a great name for a BBQ joint and they certainly had 8 types of sauce!
Due to COVID, they have not reopened the restaurant yet, but the bier garten area is open and there is a limited menu. I chose pulled pork sandwich, slaw, potato salad, and sweet tea.
The pulled pork sandwich came out with a but that was barely bigger than a roll. But it didn't matter because I was going to sample all the sauces with the roll and eat the pork separately. The pork was excellent

We got there at 6:30 pm and they were open until 10. And they were out of food. The food that we got was very good, the atmosphere was nice, but the things I wanted to eat, Ribs and a baked potato, they were out off.The brisket was at the bottom of the container and sat in it's own grease, but it was good.The salad was in point, and Macaroni and cheese was very very good. I would've gave them more starts, but you cant run out of food on a Sat night.

SUPER cute place!! big outdoor area with a bonfire & string lights. inside is big too with lots of seating. order at the counter then pick your own seat. i got the chicken bbq plate - chose my vessel (2 hawaiian rolls) which i was a little disappointed with; they were dry instead of the moist chewy hawaiian roll you expect. mac & cheese is very cheesy & the typical southern mac & cheese. cole slaw was very bland, not seasoned at all. the chicken was good, especially with the sauces (best sauce: house & sweet molasses). i wasn't super overwhelmed with it but i would definitely

Stopped here on a football bye-week for a Saturday lunch. The atmosphere here is really neat, with a courtyard and stage outside with an adjoining bar building.
Wife and I shared a pound of brisket and some sides. Honestly, the sides (beans, cole slaw, potato salad) were forgettable. But the brisket is another story. The flavor was full, the meat was juicy and tender. My wife and I agree that this is close to the best brisket we've eaten in our history.
Five stars for the brisket. Minus one star for average sides.

Great bark on smoky flavored pulled pork. Hash n rice was delicious and the best I've had this west of South Carolina. Green bean casserole was heaven sent and the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Big basket of tater tots was well received. Service was agreeable and the joint almost too clean to be a bbq joint. Large menu had it all... chicken, ribs, brisket, stew n hash with meat combos to fill the hungriest of patrons. Full bar is well run and host to much fun. Large craft beer selection on tap.

Great concept. You get a lot of food for the price. At the end of the line are about a dozen different sauces for you to try.
The only thing I would suggest is to go at the beginning of the day insta is in the evening. Some food may have been sitting a while which obviously won't taste as good.
Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a separate set arched bar are.

Came here with family and friends after my cousins UGA Women's Basketball game. This was a little different for e. Even though I didn't eat a normal entrée everyone there enjoyed the pulled pork, brisket, and smoked chicken. It almost reminded me of going through the cafeteria line in Middle/High School.
Since I was already full from all of the free chicken tenders after the games banquet on campus I didn't have room for anything else other than some homemade bread pudding and vanilla ice cream. It was a small bowl that fit in the size of your hand and they just piled the bread
