I have been so impressed with how well organized, clean, and conscientious ambience hair design has been during the pandemic. I work from home and I'm extremely careful about going into stores running errands etc. during the pandemic. I do not hesitate to get my haircut at ambience hair design now as I feel they use an abundance of caution. There's typically only two customers at a time in a large open space. This is my second time at Ambiance since the COVID re-opening. The salon is absolutely sparkling clean. There is a continued emphasis on a safe experience - frequent hand washing, face masks and disinfection of all surfaces immediately after use. The atmosphere is calm, professional and organised. All of these qualities on top the best haircut and color anywhere. The owner, Dawn, makes sure everything is perfect in every way and her fellow stylists have exactly the same professional attitude. It is the dream team!

This place, and specifically Sarah, were recommended by a friend, who'd had it recommended to her. I walked in at 9am to friendly faces quick to greet me. After a very brief wait during which I filled out my new client form, Sarah greeted me and off we went. She's friendly and professional, and did a great job with both cut and color. The other stylists nearby were friendly to me as well. I keep emphasizing the friendliness -- I normally don't pay attention to it as I don't go to a salon to make friends, but having read some of the other yelp reviews I thought I'd be walking

We are visiting Rockport MA for 2 weeks from Washington DC. We called to make an appointment asking for 3pm. We were given a 2pm appointment. We arrived at 1:40pm and checked in. The receptionist Betty notified our stylist Rachel we had arrived. After waiting until 2:23pm, we went to Betty to ensure our appointment was at 2pm and not 3pm. Betty assured us it was 2pm. She then called out to Rachel asking how much longer the wait would be. Rachel replied "Oh, I didn't know she was here". There was a woman in Rachel's chair with wet hair not close to being finished. I’ve had the same hairdresser for many years, switching is always hard but after moving I couldnt keep traveling to my old salon. I took a chance off the reviews of others and the internet and came in for an appointment with Tara for a color. She listened to what I have and what I wanted going forward. Her coloring skills/technique are fantastic and she gave me exactly what I wanted and more. We even had time for a cut and it came out perfect to get me right where I want to be. I've been going to Ambiance since I moved to the area 5 years ago and have had consistently great hair color, cut and styling. So much thought given to every service, from scalp massages during shampoo to ongoing requests for feedback. Staff make multiple offers of coffee/tea and if there is anything else I'd like. I feel pampered and like I'm a valued client at ever visit. I recommend Ambiance very highly.

Ashley is an incredible stylist. Before finding her, I was rarely satisfied with my hair. Now, I love it! Plus, even when my hair grows out, it still looks good. The salon is wonderful, too. The wash room is relaxing and the hospitality is impeccable. There is always an offer of something to drink, fresh flowers around the salon, and a very comfortable atmosphere.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this salon. They took such wonderful care of myself and my wedding party. Rachel is the single most talented hair and makeup artist I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have never felt more beautiful than when I left her chair. I always look forward to my salon appointment at Ambiance! As one of the "original" clients from the salon's beginnings, I have seen many changes. One part that has remained constant is the amazing customer service, professionalism, dedication, and talent of each stylist. How lucky to have such a gem here in Rockport! I've recently been asked by two friends where I get my hair cut. I referred them both to Ambience and BOTH loved it. Of course the Wash House is always a stand-out, but Dawn's (and her staff's) careful attention to my specific needs and consistent teaching of how to maintain my 'do' in all weathers is even better. And don't forget Vicki's amazing nail care. Mine have NEVER been better.

I just got a magnificent cut and color from Dawn and I could not be happier. She cut my hair for the first time about a month and a half ago. I'd been looking to replicate a cut I got in Atlanta over a year ago and the look I wanted was eluding me. I tried several stylists over the course of a year. Today Dawn just nailed it! My girlfriend and I both got a haircut at ambiance earlier this evening; specifically by Brittany. Both of us being new to the area have been looking for a good place to have our hair done, and I think we have found it! Brittany was spectacular with conversation and most importantly our hair. I will definately go back despite the price! The experience was astounding.
They also offer tea, coffee or even lemon water and focus on the comfort of their customers. I would suggest this place to anyone.

I got married in Rockport on January 1st and was so happy to find a salon in town that would accomodate me and my bridesmaids on a day they would typically be closed. The wedding/event coordinator at the time, Halley, was super helpful over the phone. When I went in for my hair and make-up trial a few weeks before the wedding, things went relatively well. I was a little annoyed that my stylist, Lisa, didn't even want to attempt one of the updos I had in mind, but the one updo she did turned out great and I was happy with it. I first started going to this salon when I was really little and I had such long hair it took 3 people to comb it out! Sadly, I don't live in the area anymore, but sometimes I still get home and go to get my hair cut there.
