If this is your first foray into Physical Therapy, you probably have questions. Ready to make your first appointment? Be aware that California law allows Direct Access to Physical Therapy services. There is no need for a physician's referral but you must have a doctor/physician assistant so that your evaluation report can be provided.

If you are insured, please contact your carrier directly as plan specifics often vary and frequently change. Your plan's Customer Service number is on the back of your benefit card. More detailed information is available at Direct Access/Insurance. You can print them, fill them out and bring them with you to your appointment so that you can benefit from the full treatment time.

We strive, through TREATMENT to relieve pain and to create an efficient, mobile, balanced, dynamically-stable skeletal structure. Over the last forty years, we have treated thousands of patients with spinal problems. Our clinical experience has shown that movement abnormalities occur within a definite pattern that changes the normal postural interactions.
A graduate of the University of Florida (B.S. Physical Therapy, 1970) and Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (Doctorate of Physical Therapy, 2010), Bill spent eight years in the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps. Here he developed his specialty of spinal rehabilitation and his sub-specialty of electroneuromyography, a complementary pairing.
Medicare patients can schedule an initial evaluation without a doctor's referral. After an exam, your PT will send a report and recommended treatment plan to your physician. Once approved by your physician, you can schedule up to 12 visits within 45 days. The PT can evaluate and begin treatment while waiting for the Plan of Care to be signed within 30 days of your initial visit.
EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies are performed to assess the integrity of nerves and muscles. Complaints of swelling, weakness, numbness, and tingling are typical symptoms associated with nerve damage. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is one of the most common reasons for referral for an EMG/NCV test. Prior to the exam, Dr. Bracewell will take a thorough history and perform a physical evaluation.
