Services
Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, traveling on business, taking a vacation with the kids, or spending a weekend with the girls, the Historic Elgin Hotel has a suite that's perfect for you. Each of our 12 suites is uniquely themed to a person or place in the region and offers a wide variety of accommodations including Premium Suites, Elgin Suites, and Multi-Room Suites.
This grand 727 square foot master suite is a favorite for guests of all ages and pays tribute to those who have played a key role in the Elgin over the years. This luxury suite features a beautifully ornate king-size bed and plush mattress crowned by a coffered ceiling featuring mood lighting. The ambiance of the room is set with an electric fireplace surrounded by breathtaking cherry wood bookcases.
Known as the "Swamp Fox", Francis Marion served as a courageous military officer in the American Revolutionary War. Both Marion County and the city of Marion were named in his honor, so it is only fitting that this prestigious 274 square foot room be established in his name as well.

The vintage burgundy and gold wallpaper in this suite perfectly accents the rich dark furniture, which includes a beautiful king-sized sleigh bed, an oversized antique dresser and mirror, and a mirrored wardrobe. Two comfortable reading chairs provide a place to relax and reconnect. The suite includes a private bath with shower/tub combo, as well as plush robes and slippers.
Once named Carter's Mineral Springs, a group of seven springs still stand just 4 miles northeast of Marion. These springs were renamed in the late 1800's after an Osage Indian Chief, Chingawassa, meaning Handsome Bird. During the late 19th century, springs like those of Chingawassa became popular because it was believed that the mineral springs provided healing for rheumatic and kidney diseases.
Recognizing the impact that the railway had on Marion's development, we salute the three railroads that serviced Marion-the Marion and McPherson Railway or "Santa Fe" (leased and operated by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway), the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska Railway or "Rock Island" (later known as the Union Pacific Railway), and the Marion Belt and Chingawassa Springs Railroad, a short-line that ran northeast from Marion to the quarries and Chingawassa Springs.

Staying at the Elgin is a treat you should give yourself! If you appreciate things of the past, the decor will put you in the opulence of Victorian-era America. The main reasons to go are the staff, who will bend over backward to make every aspect of your stay the BEST, and the food, which is spectacular (both the dinner served at Parlour restaurant and the chef-made breakfast each morning). Do not cheat yourself out of either of these! Things to be aware of: 1. This is a historic hotel, so the rooms are small, and not designed for spreading out. The hotel has a wonderful solution to this with

I stayed in 312 for my wedding weekend and it was so clean, comfortable, and relaxing!
The first night it was me and my bridesmaids - we had champagne on ice waiting for us! The room was big enough for us to enjoy the champagne and giggle the evening away. We ended the evening by going to the Parlour to get some drinks, which were amazing as always! There was enough beds for all us to have our own.
The next night, the room was refreshed, trash taken out, beds remade. The shower was amazing! I loved the different jets and all settings!
Breakfast on Sunday was so delicious! My husband said it

We don't have enough "paper" to write all the reasons why the Historic Elgin is amazing. First, we were welcomed by Jeff, who knew every detail of our reservation (we had added on a package). He was very friendly and attentive. We stayed in th Flint Hills Suite with the large jacuzzi tub that had lights that changed colors. That tub was so awesome, all we could talk about was how to redesign our home tub and shower to have the same one! For our package, a chilled bottle of champagne and cheese platter awaited us in addition to snacks and chocolates! Jeff was very attentive by text for any questions

The Historic Elgin Hotel is a bright spot in Marion KS (Western KS.)
The owner, Tammy and her staff make traveling there a joy. Last year they added the 1886 restaurant and it was a great upgrade. The food and drinks are on point and Cody, the bartender, is an artist.
Make sure you spend the extra money and get the breakfast. The coffee cake we had was the best my and my wife have ever had. And that’s coming from a serious foodie. The sausage and egg crepes complimented very well.

Celebrated our 10 year anniversary with a stay here. Stayed in the suite. Ate dinner at Parlor 1886, the steaks were perfectly done. Every item was delicious. Drink menu was fun, had variety, and they were very tasty. Pictured is the raspberry Tom Collins.
Bed was so comfortable. Bath/shower were wonderful, bath salts and bubble bath provided.
Small outbuilding turned gameroom was great. Air conditioned, pool, corn hole, multiple other games available.
In the morning, we went down to breakfast and had bacon, potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. Coffee on multiple floors available.

We took our mothers to the Elgin for a Mother's Day Dinner. Could not have been more fabulous. The staff is gracious, fun, and attentive. The atmosphere is GORGEOUS, and takes you back in time to a restored masterpiece, from the late 1800s. If you are lucky, there is live music played on the weekends, and their menu is top notch. The calamari has the lightest crispy batter, the pastas are on point, and you must save room for carrot cake. You will not be able to beat it anywhere.

Wonderful staff, clean rooms, excellent ambiance. We have chose to visit The Elms for our getaway in the past. The beauty and cleanness of The Elgin surpasses with flying colors, we will forgo a spa for excellence like this! We explored the Canton Wildlife Refuge and Marion Lake area during the day for nature hikes. Returned to The Elgin and had a wonderful meal (Fri and Sat night) at their restaurant. I can’t recommend this place enough. Tammy has thought of all the details to make a stay welcoming and wonderful, and it shows. *Try their breakfast! Fantastic, affordable and filling. It is a
