American Dock & Marine was established by Michael Murray in 1990. Mike's acquaintance with the water began on Wadmalaw Island, with his family owned business of party fishing and shrimp boats. After a long period of time as a commercial diver, he founded American Dock and Marine Construction. Today he holds a 100 ton Captain's license, is a member of the SC Subcontractors Association and has over forty years of marine experience.
American Dock & Marine Construction, Inc. offers a wide range of dock configurations, from the smallest of crabbing docks to the largest permitted structures. The loss of high ground in the Low Country can be costly and detrimental to the environment, and the loss of an asset. Bulkheads and retaining walls are some of the methods used in a variety of situations.
All new construction of docks and additions to docks in the critical area of our marshes requires a permit from OCRM (Ocean & Coastal Resource Management - a division of SC DHEC) and a survey showing the proposed structure, produced by a licensed SC surveyor, engineer or landscape architect. Permitting in some areas may also require a joint permit with OCRM and the Army Corps of Engineers.

Calles on a Monday am for an estimate on repairing or replacing retention wall in my backyard that backs up to City Stormwater ditch. That afternoon Mike and Erich came and checked the wall and felt that it could be repaired. Wednesday am got an estimare for repair that was much better than other companies I checked. I was told work would start Thursday or Friday. And to my surprise when I was coming home Wednesday pm I saw their truck parked at my house. Three very polite and hard working crew members did great job and finished everything on Wednesday afternoon despite awful heat and humidity
