Palo Duro has lot's to do for a long weekend or even a week. Four Gables at Doves Rest Ranch was our base for the week and we highly recommend. The staff is very responsive if you have questions.
The outside is a glorious example of a country four gable house with wrap-around porch.
The inside is large, clean & comfortable for relaxing after a busy day.
The house is quite remote from other cabins, but still just 5-10 minutes from any activities.
Here are a few activities we enjoyed so much with our 3 generations of family.

The cabin was amazing! The interior was super clean and new. It was also decorated very nicely. The view out of the front of the cabin was insane! So beautiful, especially in the mornings. Overall, just an awesome place to stay. We loved staying here and definitely plan on doing so again in the future!

8 reasons to stay away from Doves Rest Cabins
1. The smell. Septic tank is 12' from the Phantom cabin.
2. Loud, obtrusive ice maker in refrigerator woke us 3 times during the night.
3. TV was inoperable and no one responded until the next afternoon.
4. Dishes/sauce pans were unwashed, still had stickers on bottom.
5. Requested explanation of $75.00 required service charge and no one responded.
6. Requested explanation of 9.9% tax charge and no one responded.
7. Soap dispensers malfunctioned and were not replaced until the next afternoon.
8. Left text messages, voice mails and emails

Just got back from a long weekend at Dove's Rest and it was amazing! We stayed in the Laredo cabin and it was just beautiful. There were 6 in our group - 3 teens, 2 adults and 1 toddler. We had ample space to spread out, plenty of seating indoors and out, and the beds were nice and comfy. The cabin was super clean and we never found anything that seemed dirty. The cabin was well stocked with all the tools and kitchen gear needed to prepare just about anything you can think of. Plenty of plates, cups, silverware, etc.

These cabins were the cleanest I've ever been to. Also, they had more than everything we needed to cook and be comfortable. The views are outstanding and couldn't be more impressed. Here is the best part. Due to COVID issues, we have to change our reservation and Suzanne (management) couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. She did everything in her power to change us, and didn't charge extra. Thank you very much for making our short stay amazing and we will be coming back.

This is a beautiful cabin with long views toward Palo Duro Canyon. There are no other homes within a few hundred yards, so it is very quiet. It is very clean and nicely furnished with all the amenities of home and then some. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the utensils and cookware you could need. The bathrooms had plenty of towels and we found the hairdryer after a bit of a search. The beds have extra pillows with a variety of firmness. The back patio is nicely furnished and has an eastern view toward the canyon. There is a hot tub and grill, neither of which we used; but there are bathrobes

When we pulled up to the Chisholm cabin, we were blown away by not only the views, but by the peaceful silence. No traffic;no loud humans, just the sound of a Panhandle breeze.
The staff at Dove's Rest put a lot of time into attention to detail. These cabins are rustic, but also very modern, and have all the amenities one could desire. The photos on the website do not do justice of the cabins! The rooms were much larger than expected. So much attention to detail! I'm totally stealing the makeup washcloth idea! Brilliant! I'm a recipe blogger and truly appreciated the cookware!
The surroundings were peaceful. The beds were comfortable. The only negative was that our weekend went by so quickly.
The staff is great to answer any question and gives excellent directions!
We'll be back in 2020 for the next family Christmas gathering!

Best kept secret in the Panhandle of Texas. Decked out Cabins with incredible views. Attention to detail, attentive staff, free WiFi, & located on the rim of the 2nd largest canyon in the U.S.. If you are looking for a great place to stay be sure to book at Doves Rest Cabins. Hiking, jeep tours, & horse back riding right in their backyard. Canyon has adorable eateries & shopping on the square. Just an overall great experience.

The cabin is beautiful and extremely comfortable. We stayed in Comanche. I left my kindle behind and got it mailed back safely wrapped up. The management is responsive and the accommodations are clean and very attractive in keeping with the surrounding panoramic vistas in this dramatic natural landscape.

Recently spent four nights in the Fortress Cabin, and it was awesome! The cabin and the views are beautiful. You are literally right on the edge of the canyon. Lots of wildlife in the area. We took advantage of the concierge services, and everything was stocked and put away when we arrived. It was nice not having to deal with grocery shopping. We never went into the town of Canyon as we had everything we needed, and cooked dinner in every night. It’s worth a daytrip to Caprock – very pretty and can watch the buffalo and prairie dogs all day.

An absolutely perfect getaway place. We stayed two nights in the Chisholm cabin which overlooked the "back part" of the Palo Duro Canyon. The views are spectacular. We had originally wanted to rent the rustic cabins in the state park proper but were amazed that they were booked up a year in advance! Luckily, through a VRBO search, I found this location. Doves Rest offers three different variety of cabins. Ours was on the low end of their price offerings (one bedroom) but it was spacious and very nicely amended.

We enjoyed our vacation to Doves Rest Cabins! It is perfect location to Palo Duro Park! Literally like 5 minutes from entrance so it makes it perfect to come back to cabin for meals. Park entry fee is $5/person/day unless you have a state park pass. Various trails to hike,bike,ride while staying here!
