While divorce is fairly common in Wisconsin and throughout the U.S., it is still a very personal and unique process for everyone involved. The best and simplest advice that anyone can offer is to focus on moving forward and securing you and your children's new life. Getting caught up in a lengthy and high conflict divorce usually doesn't leave either spouse in a better position or feeling very satisfied about the process.
We aim to make every divorce settlement a good fit both for now and in the foreseeable future. However, there are cases when there is a substantial change in circumstances and court orders resulting from a divorce need to be reviewed or modified.
Changes in income, employment opportunities and a child deciding their going to move from one parent's home to the other can all lead to a modification of child support, alimony, or physical placement agreements. For their to be a modification in support or custody, you first need to demonstrate to the court that there has been a significant change in circumstances.

Custody of the children is typically the most contested item in a divorce proceeding. While there are exceptions, Wisconsin aims to have both parents play a role in the child's life, and to make decisions in the best interest of the child. While there are times that the circumstances of one or both parents make this difficult, typically both parents share the responsibilities and decision making in the children's lives.
In her family law cases, Ms. Gaworek works closely with her clients to resolve complex issues. If, however, a settlement cannot be reached, she is prepared to litigate. Ms. Gaworek is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Wisconsin Bar Association Family Law Section and the Brown County Bar Associations.

Leah Gaworek was assigned to me as a guardian ad litem during my parents custody battle throughout my early adolescence. Unworthy of even the slightest morsel of respect and/or decency, she single-handedly and irreparably ruined my life. Meeting with me at my aunt's home, of whom works in child protective services, and meeting only one side of my family, was a damningly blatant and ignorant disregard for any sliver of professional objectivity whatsoever. Following my petitions to be relocated, this soulless and evil, pettifogging insect had the audacity to, with a straight face, lie to the
