Dr. Halden Yu grew up in San Francisco and attended Lowell High School and UC Berkeley. He graduated from UC San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1995 and later completed a post-doctoral General Practice Residency program at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Hospital. Dr. Yu believes in providing excellent care to his patients and commits more than 100 hours per year in his busy schedule to attend continuing education courses.
Burlingame Family Dental is a family practice and welcomes patients of all ages. Dr. Halden Yu has a gentle demeanor and enjoys working with young children and apprehensive patients. He has been in practice for more than 16 years and has a strong commitment to continuing education, so he can provide you with excellent care in a warm and caring environment.
Never in my life have I ever been excited about visiting the dentist, until now. Dr. Yu is AWESOME! After not been seen by a dentist in about 4 years, it was no surprise that I had one cavity. I was stressing about getting it filled because I had never had a cavity before. He made the entire process painless and quick.

We found Dr. Yu through Yelp in 2014 when we moved from Southern California to Northern California. He has been our family dentist since then. Back then, our kids were 2 and 3 years old. Dr. Yu and his staff knew how to handle our toddlers well, and the staff in the office have always been very kind and nice to us. Dr. Yu is very knowledgeable and informative. Before and after any treatments, he's always given us very detailed updates, often including showing us our x-rays, showing us problem areas, and explaining how to care for our teeth and gums. He's the most conscientious dentist out there. i had another in the area who i'm convinced performed an unnecessary crown on one of my teeth. i never have that feeling about halden. in fact, when my kid got a cavity at the pediatric dentist and everyone seemed so confused about what to do, i just moved all of my kids over to dr yu and i feel that all of our teeth are truly getting the best care now. highly recommend!

Our family has been going to Dr. Yu's office for over a year now and have had a great experience. Unlike other dentists we have gone to, he doesn't push for unnecessary procedures or treatments and we appreciate that his recommendations are grounded keeping what's best clinically and financially for us. He also does all work himself, which is a nice personalized approach. He is thorough in his check ups. Just moved to the area and needed a new dentist. Based on a recommendation, we had our new patient exam with Dr Yu and are pleased with the experience. Outside staff was very nice and efficient, dental assistants were sweet and informative (although they had to X-ray one section THREE times, hopefully with an established/stable file they would just skip all that extra radiation as unnecessary and wait until next year)
Dr Yu was also very patient and quick to answer questions although some answers were a bit canned and directed to practice/money building in getting more dental work or a hopeful

I love the friendliness and the sincerity of the staff esp Pauline. They are very considerate with rescheduling and cancelling appointments. They make sure that I won't be overcharged by my insurance.
I was impressed on how a male dentist could be so gentle with my teeth. Dr Halden Yu is great!
We've moved out of town but I will be surely missing the whole team esp their Christmas card! Their service will be my standards in looking for another dentist in my new area.

Dr. Yu is highly skilled and detail oriented. He really cares about his patients! I've been with Dr. Yu for just a few months. I truly appreciate his excellent work. With limited insurance coverage, he will try to do his best to prioritize some serious cavity issues. He even found out one tooth with bad root canal which I need to do the extraction.( my last dentist which also worked in a five star yelp review dental center didn't notice that ) His assistant Pauline is also really nice and sweet! Highly recommend Dr. Yu!

Dr. Yu has been taking care of my kids and my teeth for a number of years. He's professional and knowledgeable, giving us good insight and advises with our dental care. He's also caring, patient, and very thorough with check up and cleaning! He takes his time with each of us. His staff are friendly and pleasant in person as well as over the phone or email. Dr. Yu is gentle, informative, and helpful in decision making, cleaning my teeth, and filling my cavities. I appreciate his advice and referrals even if they are not in my network.
His staff is generally responsive and helpful, but sometimes the customer service deviates from the norm especially with the fluoride foam, X-rays that target the face, and lack of tender loving care (TLC). My only concern is that I prefer a one-stop shop instead of being referred to endodontist and others, which require coordination of services.

I have been a long time patient of Dr Yu's and I should have written a review quite a while ago so after today's visit I decide the time was now. I broke a tooth and old filling last night at dinner time. I figured I would wait and see Dr Yu at my regular teeth-cleaning visit schedule for Friday. The tooth was rather jagged and bothersome so at my husband's urging I sent Dr Yu a text message. Dr Yu answered immediately and set up an appointment for this morning, which is his day off...WOW! I can honestly say I was so happy and relieved.

Dr. Yu is one of the best dental professionals I have ever met. He tells exactly what he think based on his professional judgments. He may be a perfectionist, but still recognize, understand, and accept his patients personal opinions. His staffs in the office are courteous and efficient. They told you exactly how much it cost per treatment to the penny, with or without insurance. Without insurance, they will give you a discount instead of overcharge you like some other dentists/oral surgeons. I have had bad experiences with other dentists/oral surgeons who would give you an estimate and then charged

The office was cozy and the staff were friendly -- we made small chat as I finished paperwork and waited for Dr. Yu to finish seeing another patient, a small boy. Dr. Yu himself is soft spoken and gave me good information about what might be causing my gum recession. He was gentle with his hands and administered anesthesia without giving me any pain -- something my last dentist wasn't good at doing.

I've been going to Dr. Yu for a few years now and I refuse to go to any other dentist!! :) His asistants are all very nice. I really like his assistant Pauline. She's always very sweet and friendly. Dr. Yu is fantastic! He's soft spoken but very informative, he's on time and quick! He also remembers little things about me like my job and schooling.
I also love that they offer Saturday appointments. I actually enjoy going to his office. I've always had a great experience and I leave with nice, white and clean teeth. =D

Unfortunately I've never been blessed with good teeth and so I've had to seek out a lot of help from various dentists throughout the years. I've had to see many different dentists around the Bay Area but I'm glad to say I've finally found a dentist that I will be happy sticking with for the long haul. That dentist is Dr. Halden Yu.

I'm not a big fan of going to the dentist, and it had bee about 3 years since my last check-up.
I first tried going to the on-site dental service offered by my employer. They seemed a bit like used-car salesmen and told me that I needed four root canals.
My wife's friend then recommended Dr. Yu.
Both my wife and I have gone to Dr. Yu. He is extremely patient and respectful. He takes a lot of time to do a thorough analysis and to explain the situation and the available options. My wife and I both agree that he is the best dentist that we have ever gone to.
And, it turned out

I highly recommend Dr. Yu. He takes care of my and my family's dental problems. Aside from the usual cleanings and regular exams, we've had extractions and dental crowns replaced by him.
