Collage Dance Company strives to build confidence, creativity, character, and perseverance in our community's youth. We use the vehicles of Music, Dance and Visual Art to attain these goals. It is our belief that exposing our youth to their rich cultural heritage enables them to accomplish any of their life's goals.

Sadiyah Shakur-Saleem (right) one of the original members of The Chuck Davis Dance Company in New York. is the founder of Collage Dance Company of Durham, North Carolina. She enjoys encouraging young people to become all they can be. Sadiyah feels that there must be a venue for artistic expression, especially for today's youth.
This class will introduce basic drum techniques and rhythm patterns from the Diaspora to aspiring and beginning drummers. The instructor, Teli Shabu, is an accomplished musician with Shabutaso/TMOAR (The Shabu Family). This class will continue the learning of drum techniques and rhythm patterns from the Diaspora to intermediate drummers.
