Karen Helton Powanda, an Austin native, began her career in Southern California and expanded abroad. Always passionate about the beauty industry, she went on to become a licensed esthetician (in Texas and California), and studied under two world renowned celebrity makeup artists. Karen continues to travel to Los Angeles and New York City to bring cutting edge beauty industry trends and techniques home to her Austin clientele.
With each session, you will receive instructions on how to maintain your brows and enhance your features day to day. Scheduling appointments on a regular basis is important to maintaining the shape of your brows. It's that simple. Hand-tweezing allows for a precise shape customized to enhance each client's facial structure.
Every self-respecting man knows they can't walk around with a neck-beard, ear hair, or a T-shirt they fished off the ground. What some don't know is that eyebrow grooming is just as important. Eyebrows have a tendency to get out of hand on those of the male persuasion, rendering them looking unkempt and unprofessional.

I booked an appointment to get my eyebrows shaped, and I was incredibly impressed with Amanda. She did a great job at shaping my eyebrows and keeping their natural shape. I have been a few other places and was satisfied with the results, but Amanda really exceeded my expectations on how my eyebrows could look. I can see why the demand for their services is so high. Book your appointment a few weeks ahead of time. I will only go here from now on for eyebrow shaping and upkeep.

It was so great to be back after the enforced break - consistently great quality treatments here, and always a friendly,.welcoming and personalised atmosphere from Laura and Sarah - who rememer your likes/dislikes and even favourite colours despite the number of customers! I travel quite a way to see Laura and her team in Twickenham and over the last 2 years have really benefitted from their specialist skincare advice, products and treatments such as Venus Freeze - all of which have kickstarted a fabulous new skincare regime. I've been going to Karen for a couple of years now for my brows! My brows have never looked this great and without her - I don't want to imagine. Wow! This place just warms my heart. From the moment I walked in...scratch that...from the moment I emailed them, they were so friendly and quick to respond. Brandi at the front has a warmth that makes you feel so at home, and Amanda, the girl who did my eyebrows, is an all-around professional. The place is super clean, and they handled all this COVID craziness with such poise. Not to mention my brows look absolutely awesome! This is my new go-to place.

I had an appointment with Karen. She is usually booked up months and months in advance so luckily I got in with a last minute cancellation. The place is beautiful and clean inside. Karen informed me of how my eyes, eye spacing, shape of my face and eyes and how my brow bone play into her shaping them. She taught me where I should avoid tweezing in between visits and made sure I had an appointment the next time I needed it. So professional and a wonderful experience, if you have been thinking of booking do so ASAP. You won't regret it!

I just moved to Austin and this place was my first shot among the other studios I was researching. Well, I don't need to visit other places since I met Rachel. She was incredibly professional and very cool lady who informs you about your eyebrows and what is she going to do with them. I am so glad that I found this awesome place. The studio is very chic and boutique. No waxing or threading. She is taking her time to make sure that they look beautiful and perfect. Karen's THE best! If you want perfect brows there's nowhere else to go. I've had my brows waxed in the past and they took too much off and it took forever to grow back. I never have to worry about that here. AND they have great makeup too which is just icing on the cake. I moved to the west coast and whenever I visit Austin, I always try to visit but they're always booked so it can be hard bc they're so great!

Working on fuller eyebrows! First timer here and loved the experience. She measured my brows and showed me where they should start and stop and gave me "homework" for the areas I need to grow out. She added a small amount of pencil in the areas we are growing out, but what a difference...they look so much fuller!

I am disappointed in Kiss N' Makeup because they didn't return my call for an entire week, and when I called again, they told me my voicemail was full when they tried to call me back. Two problems with this response: 1) their number did not show up on my missed calls, and 2) I tested my voicemail, and it was not full. I think this is unprofessional. If you make a mistake, own it, apologize, and move on.

This was my first time EVER getting my brows shaped by someone else. I was never keen on the idea of waxing, so searched Yelp for a tweezing specialist. As usual, you Yelpers delivered & I went to see Rachel.
She was friendly, professional and knows brows! I was blown away at how different they look. I still don't know how she managed to remove hair yet make my brows looks fuller. Even my husband immediately noticed when I got home (for the good).

So glad I discovered this place! I had the pleasure of seeing McKenzy and she was ahmazing! That lady knows how to shape! Not to mention she makes a 'self-inflicted torture sesh' ;) that much more pleasant and bearable! They were able to get me in quickly and the atmosphere was beautiful. I had to get professional head shots done for my job and so I needed to get my make up done professionally. Of course, I left it for the last minute but this place was so accommodating and got me an appointment in the evening. Once I got the appointment, they called the next day to ask what I needed and wanted. We talked a bit about what I wanted to play up and how I wanted my make up done. It was a great conversation.

After several failed brow attempts at multiple locations around Austin, I vowed to only let my hands touch my brows. As my quest for the perfect brow continued, I decided, perhaps, I was not the ultimate expert on my own brows. I firmly decided to accost anyone I saw with amazing brows, and demand to know who tamed them.
Enter McKenzy. I had to wait weeks for my first appointment but finally felt like someone was actually determining what was best for my face. McKenzy is thoughtful, patient, and explains everything she's doing. I think Kiss N' Makeup is worth the wait.

I've never really paid that much attention to my eyebrows. That didn't work out so well. I had never heard of a business doing eyebrows by just tweezing, until I came across Melissa Z's raving review, which totally intrigued me. I thought it sounded pricey, but since I recently saw a picture of myself close up I noticed that my brows were a hot mess. Help was needed, and I'm a believer in trying everything once, especially when it comes to the upkeep of my face.
