Since 1997 and located in north central Kansas, Grassland Gardens has been a nursery that specializes in Ornamental Grass. Over 80 varieties of ornamental grass have been trialed in the field. A minimum of 30 ornamental grass varieties are available throughout the growing season.
Perennial and shrubs offerings focus on eco-friendly, drought tolerant, natives, butterfly, hummingbird, & pollinator types as well as those that look especially well with ornamental grasses.Most of our perennials and shrubs have been tested for our local growing conditions through their inclusion in our display gardens.

Services
Grassland Gardens was started in 1997 by Trish Remley when the business focused on growing and arranging dried florals. That second year, the first ornamental grasses were planted in the field for which the next 20 years would be a major focus. Grass varieties were trialed, dug and, divided to fill grass ordered placed at the annual Fall Field Days weekend and throughout the fall.
Generally 30 or more ornamental grass varieties are available for purchase throughout the growing season. The following listing & pictorial of Ornamental Grasses are provided with basic varietal information including hardiness, height, and light requirements. A line of perennials & shrubs are also available.
Since 2005, Grassland Gardens has been creating landscape design plans and placement. Designs focus on using plants that will thrive and survive in our prairie environment with an emphasis on drought tolerant, native, butterfly, hummingbird, and pollinator plants. Great Plains Dermatology was looking to create a landscape that was attractive, low maintenance, and most importanly water sparing.
Enjoy a guided tour of our butterfly/hummingbird, mixed border, and pergola ornamental grass gardens. Also with fun garden art & a Fairy Garden Trail along the way. Don't miss the newly created pollinator garden featuring plants that attract birds, butterflies, bees, and many additional beneficial insects.
