Services
Florida Dance Theatre, Polk County's only professional dance company and training academy, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Formerly known as Lakeland Ballet, Florida Dance Theatre was founded in 1993 by artistic director, Carol Krajacic Erkes.
It was originally intended only as a training school, but Ms. Erkes was impressed by the talent available in the Polk County region; and while recognizing a lack of dance programming in the area, she formed Polk County's first, and to this date, only professional dance company.

Florida Dance Theatre, recognizing the importance of artistic influence on the development and growth of our children and community, strives to increase awareness and appreciation of dance as a living art form and to produce works of high artistic quality in a wide variety of styles. Our continuing purpose is to provide an enriching and unique, if not superb, multicultural experience for our community and beyond.
Dorcas Crumbley, CEO of Essential Catering Solutions, is a native Lakelander and high school graduate of Lakeland Christian School. Her and her husband Darrian reside in Lakeland with their 3 sons. In 2017, Crumbley founded Essential Catering Solutions, a premier catering and events concierge service.
The Florida Dance Theatre welcomes people of all backgrounds united in their interest and enthusiasm in supporting Polk County's only professional dance company and academy.
Our volunteers support FDT in a variety of ways; enhancing community awareness, increasing public appreciation and education, supporting special projects and initiatives, and nurturing a community where volunteers can share their love of ballet and contribute to the value of Lakeland's arts community.We will provide volunteers with the information, training, and tools needed to ensure a rewarding and productive experience for all.

Out of all the non-profits, I think that Florida Dance Theatre is the best since they can enhance any event. Recently, they accompanied the Imperial Symphony Orchestra and my girlfriend said that the event was soooooo beautiful! She said that everyone enjoyed it and that it was so nice to watch the beautiful dancers perform while the musicians played.

5 stars FDT is a special place for my granddaughter. The instructors are dance professionals who have honed their craft over time and enthusiastically share their love for dance with their students.

We were upset to hear about wearing masks while dancing in class. Due to her health issues and how that would effect her it forced us to pull her from attending. At least until this covid mess is over. Outside of that which is no ones fault my daughter and wife love the FDT staff & students. As they are all highly recommended world class teachers of dance. Our daughters level has tremendously improved since attending. Also placing 3rd in nationals as a testimony to staffs focus on the students that attend Florida Dance Theatre.

Dance Academy USA is the perfect environment for dancers of all ages. The staff in the office are all extremely friendly, attentive, and understanding. They are genuinely interested in your concerns, and ready to help in any way possible. It is always a pleasure going to DAU because of the upbeat and fun, but still very professional attitude (not to mention the dedication to each dancer is refreshing). Highly recommended.
