Mr. T. V. Johnson and his family, natives of Holmes County, Mississippi began a funeral home in Belzoni, Mississippi in 1925 called Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson had a brother who owned a funeral home in Holmes County as well. Mr. Johnny Lee Smith started working for Mr. Johnson in 1965. Mr. T. V. remained the owner of Johnson Funeral Home until 1970.
He sold the funeral home along with his faithful helper, Johnny to Mr. Hansel Travillion in 1970, who changed the name to Travillion Mortuary. Hansel had funeral homes in Belzoni, Yazoo City and his home town of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Mr. & Mrs. Smith worked hard day and night over the years with their young family.
