The Margaretta Inn
Around 1960, there became a growing need for accommodations in the Machias area. Multiple families came together and built what was then known as the Margaretta Motel. The motel was sold to Lida Geel, who briefly owned it before turning it over to her granddaughter, Donna Williamson and her husband Bruce, in 1973.

Donna and Bruce owned and operated the motel for forty years. In the spring of 2014, Michael and Sherry Radeka and Ryan and Ashley Maker purchased the motel and began a complete renovation. Now known as the Margaretta Inn, we look forward to providing you and your family a comfortable place to stay while you enjoy all that Down East Maine has to offer.

At the Margaretta Inn, we offer 12 guest rooms. Our rooms feature all the amenities of home: a flat screen TV, Simmons Beautyrest Recharge Mattresses, Keurig Brewing Machine, refrigerator, microwave, free wi-fi, iron, and ironing board. CLEAN, COMFY and NEW!
We travel a lot! And have to say this small roadside hotel has one of the most comfy beds Ive experianced in any motel EVER.
Rooms arent huge but very nicely remodeled with a pleasant bathroom and heated floor.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming and checked us in electronically when we arrived late.

The rooms are clean and include a mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, and desk. They have hard floors instead of carpet, which is a huge bonus, plus the beds are comfy.

Clean room, newly renovated , quiet. Linens were nice and I loved the heated tile floor in the bathroom. Beds are very comfortable, not hard as a rock. Be aware, one of the drive ways has a big bump down by the road . Otherwise this is a great little place to stay when visiting Machias .

Perfect! Spotless, super comfortable bed and amazing customer service! There was a handwritten card upon our arrival welcoming us, such a nice touch. This is a great location to explore Eastport, Cutler, Quoddy and the surrounding area. The fridge and microwave are very helpful as we brought some of our meals. Comfortable outdoor seating area. I can’t say enough about the wonderful customer service! We will definitely stay here again when we come back.

A gem in the middle of Machias. Old motel that has been renovated with great taste - nicer than many hotel rooms. Bathrooms have heated floors, the coffee maker is the kind that takes pods. White linens, towels, nice shampoo & soap. We enjoyed takeout in the seating area outside. Other than road noise on rte 1, area was quiet.

I stayed here for two weeks with a 2 day break in the middle. They kept my same room for me and at the beginning of BOTH stays, I was met with a thank you/welcome hand written note. Such a lovely touch! The room was spotless and everything was in working order. Looks like the rooms have been renovated recently because the flooring and furniture were modern and fresh. The room has a fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. You'll enjoy the HEATED bathroom floor! That felt great and is an amenity you rarely find. The rooms have punch code locks and the door is programed with a unique number for you so you

Although the room was fit for a mouse,(really tiny for two), the straw that broke the camels back was the drugged up or drunked up or both couple that showed up at 2AM in the room next to us. Loud and abusive to each other with lots of pounding of doors and furniture. Management should have called the police or not admitted these two at all. The "crabbing communities" of Maine have a "huge" drug problem, according to the studies made by the U. of Maine. It reared its ugly head in the room next to us in East, Machias. Left as early as we could after a fitfull and disturbing

From the outside it did not look over the top but when you go in the room it is a wow. There are heated bathroom floors and it is exceptionally clean. Even had Keurig coffee in the room. Very fresh and new decorations in the room. A very pleasant stay.

This was reminiscent of vacations as a child as this is a motel but the bed is better than a Marriott. Very clean, comfortable room, TV up high and the towels are folded like you are at a resort. Staff gave wonderful recommendations and is very knowledgeable of the area. Heated floors, coffee maker in the room were excellent additions.

I would definitely stay here again. And I'm picky. Clean, modern, comfortable. Rooms a bit small but very maneuverable. Old-time motel-looking on the outside which gives it a certain charm. Staff very pleasant.

Heated bathroom floors, convenient and free parking, close to all local areas, clean, warm and welcoming! Would absolutely recommend you stay here in this area. Very comfortable. My boyfriend and I wanted to visit the most eastern point of the US and see the local lobster drop for NYE, so we stayed here at this charming little place! We had a great time and rested well.

The Margaretta is a very nice, welcoming, and convenient place to stay. I conducted a training at the University of Maine at Machias, and stayed here at the Margaretta Inn overnight. The rooms have been recently renovated- comfortable full size beds, very lovely decor, warming tiles in the bathroom, refrigerators and microwaves in the room, etc. They serve a complimentary breakfast from 7-9am, and the waffle with homemade blueberry sauce is terrific. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Be sure to check out the history of the name on their website!

We stayed here from Sept. 23rd thru Sept. 27th. When your in your room you wouldnt think it was a motel. It rivals many high end hotels. Which is something that is hard to find up in coastal Maine. It was so nice clean as nice as any well equipped nice hotel. The rooms appeared to be new and very modern. We were very impressed. The owner is such a pleasure to deal with, very friendly and accomondating. Would love to stay here again, on our next down east visit! Awesome!
