For more than three decades I have practiced acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in the Amherst and Northampton area of western Massachusetts. I mix a warm and personable style with over three decades of experience treating stress-related and chronic health conditions, gynecological imbalances, headaches, sports injuries and other musculo-skeletal pain, and facial-rejuvenation needs.

My particular interest in sports medicine and the treatment of concussions has led to working with college athletes at both UMass Amherst and Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. My interest in public health led me to start (and currently staff) an acupuncture program at a community health center in central Massachusetts.
Services
People often ask me how I got started practicing acupuncture and Chinese medicine. There were several routes "in": an early interest in "alternative" medicine, that first acupressure point someone taught me that cured sore throats in a flash (Spleen 2, good to know-move your fingers around the area until you find the sharpest pain upon pressure and massage till the pain is gone), and getting my first acupressure treatment in the early 1980s.
I have over three decades of experience in general practice, treating a wide range of health concerns. Acupuncture is increasingly used by top professional athletes to speed healing, increase range of motion, improve local blood circulation, strengthen weak areas, relax tight muscles, and decrease pain, inflammation, and swelling.
A wide range of acute and chronic digestive, musculo-skeletal, respiratory, gynecological, cardiovascular, immune-related, urogenital, pain, psychological, stress-related, and neurological conditions can be treated very effectively with acupuncture and Chinese (also known as East Asian) medicine, including sports injuries, chronic headaches, high blood pressure, insomnia, back pain, fatigue, menstrual and menopausal difficulties and much more.
I have more than three decades of experience as an acupuncturist, treating a wide range of acute and chronic health problems. A large majority of my patients experience significant to complete relief from their original health concern. In addition, because Chinese medicine treats the body as a whole system, many secondary symptoms improve at the same time.
An initial visit lasts 1 to 1 hours and includes a health history, a brief physical exam, and an acupuncture treatment. Follow-up visits last approximately one hour. During a treatment session, twelve to twenty slender, pre-sterilized, single-use, stainless-steel needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points on the body and then left in place for 30 to 45 minutes.

Nancy has made a huge difference in my quality of life. I've been receiving acupuncture treatments from her for quite a few years, mostly for my stubborn fibromyalgia. I always get immediate relief, and when I am able to get treatments regularly, I often have long periods of time symptom free. And what's more, she is always seeking new ways to treat me even more effectively. Nancy's treatments are always deeply relaxing, and her manner nurturing and healing. She is a genuinely caring and committed practitioner. I highly recommend her.
