Established in 2000, Professional Building Systems, Inc. ("PBS") is a leading manufacturer of modular structures, offering a wide variety of high-quality, custom built products. We market, design, engineer, manufacture, and service customized modular structures for the multi-family, adult living, hospitality, education, single-family, and light commercial markets.
The modular building process begins as soon as a builder presents PBS with a concept. Our design team quickly creates a preliminary plan based on the information provided by the builder. That same information is entered into our sophisticated order entry and design system enabling us to design the structure, as well as produce an accurate estimate for the project.
A modular building is a custom-designed structure built in sections called modules. The module sections are constructed in an off-site production facility, then delivered to the intended site and set on a foundation as a permanent structure. Construction of the modules, in most cases, is 95% complete prior to shipment.

I cannot recommend them. Here is the letter I sent to their CEO which received no response:
I am a recent customer and purchaser of one of your modular homes. I feel like I need to write to you about this experience. I called your offices in late 2019 to inquire about purchasing one of your homes for land that we had bought in Marion, NC. The woman I spoke to gave me the nearest dealer for that area, Diane. I had many conversations with Diane about the virtues of going modular and we decided to go forward with PBS. My spouse originally met with Diane as he was up in Marion working on the land

I had a modular home built by PBS in 2017. The home looks nice and I thought of reasonable quality. This past winter there were some heavy winds and I noticed cracking above a sliding glass door which kept growing. I alerted PBS and my insurance company. PBS completely ignored me. The insurance company sent out an inspector and concluded that the house was not built to common code for wind resistance and that they do not cover builder defects. I then went back to PBS who told me the house was fine and that they would do nothing. I am going to begin a lawsuit against PBS which is going to be difficult

I’ll start off by saying I DO LOVE MY HOUSE…in spite of PBS’s shortcomings and annoyances. We went modular because we wanted a fast turn-around, but the time saved was erased by time spent fixing things. We went with PBS because our GC assured us he’d had good luck with them in the past and even though they were cheaper than other modular companies, we were assured the quality was comparable.
The bad: House was delivered with the wrong stairs, wrong door moldings, wrong size shutters installed, kitchen window installed at wrong height, various plumbing and electricals installed in wrong
