If you're looking for the perfect blend of historical elegance, rustic charm, and a team that will handle all the behind-the-scenes, you've found your venue. Nestled within 200 acres of farm land just 30 miles south of Richmond, The Barns of Kanak's 13-acre grounds consist of ten barns, six silos, a cottage, farmhouse, pool, fountain, courtyards, ample parking, and more.
As a family-owned and operated business, we are passionate about your wedding vision and feel honored to be a part of one of the biggest days of your life. Our goal is to provide you an unforgettable wedding experience from your tour of the grounds to your wedding reception exit. Tom and Diane had a dream of serving couples in their commitment to each other as husband and wife.
The Farmhouse, typically used for the bride and bridesmaids to prepare, was added to the property in 1912. It includes a full kitchen, dining room, 2 sitting rooms, a vanity room, 2 bedrooms, and 3 full bathrooms. Typically used for the groom and groomsmen to prepare, the Cottage was one of the Kanak's original homes built in 1899.
Although we do not provide on-site catering, we do work closely with catering partners that will provide you a seamless and professional experience. We have handicap-accessible, spacious restrooms that can be accessed from inside and outside of the Reception Barn. Each restroom has plenty of stalls for large weddings.
Event Coordinating Interns work closely with our lead and assistant coordinators to make weddings and other events come to life. Their main responsibilities include event preparation, communicating with vendors and clients, administrative duties, assisting with social media and marketing efforts, and various other tasks associated with running an event venue.

If you have any uncertainties about whether the Barns of Kanak is the venue for you let me tell you that you don't need to look any further. My husband and I were looking for a venue that was versatile enough to handle a fusion Indian/American wedding and their team didn't blink an eye in accepting the challenge despite not hosting an Indian wedding before. They were excited to learn what was involved and always made us feel welcome, which was not the case at some of the other venues we considered. Our original wedding date was May 23, 2020. There’s not other way to describe my wedding at The Barns of Kanak than absolute perfection. The team made every single vision I had for my wedding come to life. The venue has EVERYTHING. We had our hair + makeup teams come to the venue and the morning getting ready was the most relaxing and fun experience I could have ever asked for. While the girls got ready, the guys and our families hung out, played games, and relaxed by the pool. We could not be more happy that we chose to have our wedding at the Barns of Kanak! The grounds and buildings are beautiful and gave us so many great options for hanging out, taking photos, and different parts of the event. We barely had to decorate anything, because the spaces are gorgeous themselves! Kylie, Diane, and the rest of the team are AMAZING to work with - we felt so welcomed during the whole planning process, and they made the wedding day go so smoothly. The Barns of Kanak is hands down one of the best venues in Virginia! The Barns themselves are absolutely gorgeous with so many different ceremony options for couples to pick from but the best part of having your wedding at the Barns is by far the whole team there. Tom, Diane, Kylie and everyone at the barns are so friendly, customer service oriented and are among the best venue owners and teams I've encountered in 5+ years as a Virginia wedding photographer. They take care of their staff, the wedding day vendors and I know every couple, their families and guests are in great hands at the Barns

The Barns of Kanak was an amazing celebration spot. A Dimond in the rough kind of place for an intimate social gathering tucked away off of the main road. Had a wonderful time celebrating a milestone achievement for my daughter. The landscape was beautiful and the Barn was decorated so eloquently! The hospitality we received was top notch! I wanted to leave this review as a fellow wedding vendor who has had the pleasure working at The Barns of Kanak. The property offers multiple buildings for full day enjoyment from getting ready, ceremony, portraits and all of the way through to the reception. The houses, multiple barns (I especially love the red one with lights), tree swing and the airplane hanger offer a variety of styles and moods for various celebrations. On top of the property, the owners and vendor team on site is incredibly helpful, kind and true problem solvers - characteristics you definitely want on such a special day

You would be making a mistake if you didn't choose the barns for your wedding. This team is absolutely unmatched. Diane, Kylie, Tom and Delaney were just incredible. We met Diane and Kylie during our initial tour and just loved them so much we booked the venue the next day. A huge part of our decision was their team, and how they actually spoke to both of us and not just me (the bride) as a lot of other venues we toured completely ignored my fiancé now husband. The venue speaks for itself, they give you unlimited options on where you can have the ceremony and reception, have both a bridal farmhouse
