I love being an orthodontist! I knew early on I wanted a career that could make a positive difference in people's lives and in the community. There's no better way to improve someone's self-esteem and confidence than with a beautiful smile. Since graduating my orthodontic program in 2005, I have worked as an associate in several practices to gain experience before opening my own practice in 2008.
For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery.
