We started our business in 1986 as a Pearle Vision Center franchise just one mile south of our present location. In 1995 we de-franchised and changed our name to Visionworks. In keeping with our mission of providing excellent eyecare we changed our name to VISIONEXCEL in 2006. One year later in 2007 we moved into a brand new building one mile north of our old location.

Services
Our Doctors of Optometry provide complete Comprehensive Eye Examinations. We treat Dry Eye Syndrome, manage Glaucoma and co-manage many eye conditions to reduce office visits and travel time. We have the Opto Map retinal imaging system, which can store retinal images for accurate diagnosis of many eye diseases.
We will respond to all questions by the next business day. If you have an eye emergency after business hours contact your Family Doctor or the emergency room at the nearest Hospital. If we do not get back to you within 2-3 business days, please contact by phone as your form submission might have not reached us.
The Optomap can take and store pictures of your retina (the inside back of your eye). Using the Optomap in many instances can take the place of using drops to dilate your pupils. The Optomap is a great tool to monitor many diseases of the eye. Best of all it stores the results for future comparison and monitoring.

I’m visiting Kingston from the Midwest and my glasses broke. Went to “Vision Excel” to see if they had the screw I needed. They then proceeded to fix my glasses, give me a new eye repair kit, and several of the screws I needed (just in case). It was all so quick and helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you, Leah!

My experience here was fantastic! The doctor was very thorough in his exam and took his time to answer all my questions and concerns, as well as to explain the physiology of the eye and my condition. I learned a lot and got the perfect perscription. The whole entire staff were professional, patient, personable, and very helpful when it came to helping my select a pair of glasses. I was very pleased with my experience here and highly recommend this location!

Quick and easy process of picking out frames (from a great selection) for/with my 5 year old. Staff was friendly, helpful, familiar, and made us both feel comfortable and confident. Our particular frames were pricey (wish there was a military discount to help with cost) but overall the experience was awesome!

Vision Excel is absolutely outstanding. I went to Albany to get my script and it was the worst idea ever! My right eye goes inwards (lazy eye) so naturally I needed a stronger script for that eye. They managed to FLIP the script on me! So my left eye got the stronger script and my right got nothing. I couldn’t see unless I put them on UPSIDE DOWN. Vision Excel was so accommodating and let me take the glasses made to the place in Albany to get it fixed. I did! So they sent out the new script same frames and I waited 2 weeks for the next one. Now, when I got them back my insurance

My family and I have been going for years. We love the service they provide and all the care that goes into it. Always meets your needs. We don't have insurance but I find the prices to be great and they give great discounts. My daughter gets all her contacts there and they are the same price as those online places. Plus receives an additional discount on other things there because she purchases her contacts with them. Great local run business.

Never will I buy another pair of glasses from Glen Pomerantz who owns Vision Excel! My wife brought my son to purchase his second pair of glasses from Glen Pomerantz, then she asked Glen what his Pupillary Distance was and Glen tried to charge money for the measurement even though he required her to sign a waiver that his measurements were not guaranteed to be accurate. On top of that when we rrequested a copy of our sons records, he Intentionally blacked out with a sharpie the information we requested which is our right to request. How professional was that?

This is THE BEST optical store in the Hudson Valley!! They have an amazing selection of designer glasses. They have everything from a budget collection to high end designer frames. They even carry glasses that are hand-painted!!! The staff is extremely helpful and always have me leaving happy and ready to buy more glasses!!! Even when they are booked up months in advance for an eye exam they put me on their waiting list and do their best to accommodate me!. Even though they may be booked up at times they are well worth waiting for an appointment!!! Have you gone to Visionexcel for your eyeglass
