I have been training athletes and individuals for 15 years and also have been a soccer coach for 20 years. I played competitive soccer from the youth levels up to the college club level and Junior Olympic volleyball during high school. My sporting pursuits these days are on the recreational side of things, but I am still very competitive and seem to turn any activity into a competition.

Like everyone else, I get busy and this blog gets affected by that. This year I've become a father, had the dome that the gym is in come down and had to wait a month for it to be raised, had some highs and had some lows. I've got a long list of topics I'm interested in sharing on here, and hopefully I'll keep up with it better than I have been.
I recently read an email sent by another strength coach, and the idea behind it is one that I feel compelled to share. It's a very simple concept but one that can have profound impact on your life. The concept is that in the coming year you become 365 days better than you were before. The idea of a whole new you is absurd.
Why on earth am I showing you a picture of my scraped up head? Well, yesterday I received an unfortunately painful reminder on something I tell my athletes all the time. Going through the motions just isn't good enough! So how did this come about? I'm in a hypertrophy phase in my own personal training calendar, and I don't like hypertrophy training.
When you are serious about your sport or fitness the thinking goes, if a little is good, a lot must be awesome. Right? So you train every day pushing yourself to the limits to get better. Everyone is applauding you for your effort and dedication and then. Even with that scenario in mind, the answer to the question of "Can you train every day?" actually is "yes."
