The history of Franciscan Healthcare begins with Monsignor Joseph Ruesing who became resident pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point, Neb.
Business Health & Wellness was established at Franciscan Healthcare in 1997. A team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists works together to develop programs to meet the unique needs of employers. Each year employers lose billions of dollars as a result of on-the-job accidents and injuries.
The Franciscan Healthcare Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization registered in the State of Nebraska. Founded in 1981, the Franciscan Healthcare Foundation raises, manages and disperses funds to help with the purchase of update to date, state of the art healthcare equipment as well as provides tuition assistance and loan repayment for current employees and awards scholarships to area high school graduates.
All job shadowing opportunities will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Job shadowing experiences will not be scheduled for weekends, holidays, or after hours. Provide an opportunity for students to observe healthcare professionals performing daily routines. Provide the opportunity for students to ask questions of healthcare professionals regarding job requirements, aptitudes, education, and other qualities needed.
Health Information Management (HIMS) staff work in the clinics and hospital at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point. Health information staff are responsible for the management of systems that collect, store, process, retrieve, analyze, disseminate, and communicate information. Staff in health information management have an opportunity to interact with a variety of hospital staff and health care providers.
