Welcome to the Center for Neurocognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation (CNAR). We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of adults and school-aged children with known or suspected neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, epilepsy, learning disabilities, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
These and other conditions can affect a person's memory, attention, problem solving, and other cognitive abilities. Using a variety of standardized tests, we measure your performance in these areas to determine your strengths and weaknesses. You or your physician might request a neuropsychological evaluation for a number of reasons.

Services
On the morning of your evaluation, the doctor will interview you, and possibly, your family members, regarding your history and your goals for the evaluation. This interview typically lasts 30-60 minutes. Following the interview, you will be shown to the examination room to begin testing. Family members and friends will not be permitted in the examination room while you are testing as this could impact your performance.
Prior to the evaluation, you will meet separately with the doctor to review your child's history, your current concerns, and your goals for the evaluation. This interview lasts approximately one hour and may be conducted on the day of testing or on a separate day. You will be given questionnaires to complete and, if you are concerned about your child's performance in school, you may be given teacher questionnaires as well.
The National Institutes of Health National Institute on Aging has several excellent publications available for free on their website, including information on the genetics of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and summaries of the latest research. Parent to Parent of Georgia. This site provides support, information, training and leadership opportunities for families who have children and youth with disabilities.
Healthcare providers use codes to communicate with your insurance company about the charges for services. These codes are referred to as Current Procedural Terminology or simply CPT for short. Two CPT codes are frequently used for a neuropsychological evaluation. These two codes are 96118 and 96119, and they represent different activities that occur during neuropsychological testing.

I have used the services of Dr. Nicole Styperek and her staff twice now in evaluating the cognitive capabilities of my elderly father who suffers from early stage dementia. She has been extremely helpful in providing me with quality input on what types of cognitive impairment he suffers from and how his test results compare to others in his age group. She also was able to suggest changes in daily routine, medicines, and eating and exercise habits that have been helpful. Dealing with her and her staff has always been very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend her for anyone who needs this type
