Services
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1917, by a visionary group of women dedicated to helping the government conserve food and improve the public's health and nutrition during World War I. Today, the Academy has over 100,000 credentialed practitioners (700 in Idaho) - registered dietitian nutritionists, dietetic technicians, registered, and other dietetics professionals holding undergraduate and advanced degrees in nutrition and dietetics, and students - and is committed to improving the nation's health and advancing the profession of dietetics through research, education and advocacy.
The Idaho Diet Manual is prepared by the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and approved by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare every 5 years. The 2020 version is perfect for all types of health care facilities (especially small rural hospitals, group homes and long term care) and is required to be used in all Skilled Nursing Facilities in Idaho.
As part of our "We Are Better Together" work, President RoseAnna Holliday has reached out to members throughout the state. Members from each geographic area from North Idaho to Southeast Idaho have agreed to serve as local member liaisons.

Local liasions report to the Idaho Academy President and their role is keep members in their area informed about Idaho Academy programs of work including but not limited to activities such as NNM, public relations, community service, licensure, public policy efforts, area meetings, and other board initiatives.
The board encourages all members to participate in our Affiliate Awards selections by nominating colleagues. June Yerrington was an active member of the Idaho Dietetics Association and a mentor to many. Prior to her death, June was a clinical dietitian at the Boise Veterans Hospital. At least three letters from Idaho Academy members explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award are requested for the nomination.
A Registered Dietitian is an asset to my practice and the patients we serve. The dietitian adds a unique dimension of care, support to providers, and acts as a true team player to progress the goal of highest quality care at Shoshone Family Medical Center. A Registered Dietitian belongs in primary care.
