Our Firm began Down on the river selling caskets, and we have records dating back to 1905. The first recorded owners were a partnership by the name of Skipworth & Glidewell, then in 1908 was sold to J.R. Keen & Sam Smith. In 1911 Mr. Smith Died and his son Finis F. Smith purchased his fathers interest in the business.
Sometime in the early 1900's Mr. Keen sold his interest to Finis's brother Mr. John Peyton Smith. In 1919 Mr. Peyton Smith went to Undertaker's school in Roswell, New Mexico, becoming the First person in Cumberland County to have an Undertakers license, (he was already a licensed Pharmacist).

Services
A funeral service is a special time for family and friends to comfort one another, begin to find healing and celebrate a life well lived. Whether you choose burial or cremation, you can hold a funeral service to honor your loved one. We are happy to provide a traditional funeral or something completely unique.
We will be glad to answer any questions you have concerning any or all aspects of our professional service, and to plan a tribute for you or your loved one that is as unique as the life this tribute celebrates. We are often amazed at the people whom never give any thought to this event in life's journey or the expense it may bring, be it modest or elaborate.
Meaningful memorialization of a loved one's passing can transform, heal, and comfort us. It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.
Today, when individual attitudes require a variety of funeral service alternatives, the family will discover itemized funeral charges to be informative and helpful when considering service details. The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire.
Our monument company deals directly with the quarries both nationally and internationally, thereby saving families time and money. We have markers beginning at $199.00 (pictured are some choices). This marker is 16 inches by 8 inches, 4 inches thick, and is suitable for a pet memorial, replacing and old unreadable stone, or just an affordable marker.
