Heartwood Design/Build
Tomas became a California State Licensed Contractor in 1998, after working for a local construction company for several years. He earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Industrial Technology and a minor in Business from Humboldt State University. Tomas enjoys bringing together the art and science of good design in creating satisfying work and living environments for his clients.

He is committed to the company's growth and development, particularly in such areas as green building and designing for small spaces. He comes to us having many years of experience in this field, having first been employed with his father's own construction company and later being self-employed.
Services
We are a general building contractor in Humboldt County, based in Arcata, offering design/build services for residential construction and light commercial facilities. Heartwood's primary goal is to provide ideal current and future living and working environments to meet the unique needs of each of our customers.
We are proud to offer in-house design and drafting services. We work collaboratively with customers to incorporate their ideas and needs with our vision and experience. New structures are particularly rewarding to build, because we are able to employ a holistic approach when designing and building a project from the ground up.
At Heartwood Design/Build, we are committed to giving back to the local community. We take great pride and pleasure in being able to sponsor community events, local youth athletics, and volunteer our skills for community building and improvement projects.

As a company we are actively involved in the local community because of the pleasure it brings us, but also because we know that our success is dependent on the strength and growth of our community.Since our inception Heartwood has been active in the community and we will endeavor to do so in the future.
What is Green Building? Green Building is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings and their sites use and harvest energy, water, materials. Reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal - the complete building life cycle.
