Awesome service, rented a video switching fly pack , got a great support to use it, Louis had spent extra time to show me tricks in engineering, and total confidence that their gear is well maintained and working properly .... Really amazing experience after using big rental houses in L.A. that throw stuff at you that does not work ... reason to move up here, ...

For a live show director, this is a one stop outfit for professional gear and service in San Francisco ... you do pay for it ... square and fair to be exact ... Their video engineer Steve is pretty much on the top of the game when it comes to signal flow solutions and distribution of video signal ...

I needed to convert a VHS to DVD. I chose this place because this location was so easy to get to and because how fast they were able to have it done(24hrs vs 2wks Costco estimated). I was quoted $30-$40 depending on length, actually came out to $25. $6 for additional copies. They had great service. Fast, no fuss, and plain simple. Would definitely go to them again.

The owner, Buddy, was extremely accommodating and cordial (both on the phone and in person) in helping me piece together a camera and monitor package that would fit my budget, and all at the last minute before a big shoot. His staff was also very courteous and knowledgeable and - I noticed - no one comes in the door without being greeted and helped immediately.

They had a bit of everything in their warehouse and they take great care of the equipment. These guys are serious about the business and they're doing business right.

I recently used Dub Express to transfer a film of mine to HDCAM and BluRay. My experience was good. The engineer, John, was very helpful and spent a considerable amount of time dealing with some frame rate conversions to get me the best output for HDCAM.

The final compression for BluRay was not good. However, John offered to re-compress a new higher res file for no additional cost in order to achieve better quality. I returned to my studio exported a higher res file and returned to Dub Express. John honored his word and burned a new set of BluRays at no additional cost.

In addition, they

Took some MiniDVs here to get transferred to hard drive, but they were impossibly expensive. However, they're friendly and I ended up renting my own MiniDV deck from them for $150. I was able to do it myself, and they let me keep the deck an extra night, so for rentals I'd use them again. For transfers, they need to fix their production process so the price can come way down. To import a MinDV, you shouldn't need to pay a video professional's hourly rate plus setup fee...

Pros. You need something duped or transferred from one format to another (including standards conversion), you go here. They get it done.

When I picked up my order today (completed in 24 hrs), there was a customer with several reels of 1/4" tape that she wanted converted to CD, so they deal with common "vintage" formats. Nice premises and limited customer parking. They do NOT serve burritos.

Dub Express offers efficient, if pricey, service. And beware of dealing without a written estimate. Their rude counter klutz gave me $150 verbal, then a tech guy called and asked for details (like he couldn't ask the counter guy?) and offered me more services without mentioning it was gonna cost more. The result? I had to pay $243!!
