EJ's BBQ opened in 2013 as a small, take-out only food service establishment. Three years later, it moved to 251 Main Street as a full-service restaurant. After 8 1/2 years, EJ's BBQ closed its doors as a restaurant to focus on becoming a catering facility with a private banquet hall. We are the same owners, running a different family owned-and-operated business.

Had dinner here Friday night.
I had the Western sandwich. It was brisket , bacon, cheddar cheese and an onion ring with bbq sauce. Came with fries. Sandwich was BOMB! Fries were nice and hot. Service was good. I would eat there again if I was ever back in Chadron but the chances of that happening are 1 in a billion.

This place is awesome! We were created as we came through the door. We were asked the type of seating we would like and were taken to a clean table and given menus. The waitress took our drink order immediately. She promptly returned with our drinks and took our food order. The food was on our table within five minutes! The order was perfect even with ALL of my substitutions and changes! The food was very tasty.

Ate there one time, food tasted several days old that had been reheated in a microwave. My sister who ate there regularly until that point agreed (she was not impressed), proceeded to spend the next 8 days sick and unable to do anything but go from the bed to the bathroom (my sister was down for 10 days). I will never eat at this establishment again, and I will never recommend it. Jesse who prepared our food used no gloves, (I witnessed with my own eyes) which was a red flag to me from the moment I walked in the door. Very good take out spot in downtown chadron to pick up some BBQ to go. Not really any seating but two benches with table tops for waiting. I ate at it though while it was hot and fresh. I ordered the cowboy combo. It included a 1/3 lb. of ribs(4), a pile of brisket and two sides and buttered Texas toast. I had the Mac and cheese and the chili with cheese and onions. The ribs literally fell off the bone and I was left with a nice pile of meat that I dipped in the inferno BBQ sauce(not really that hot BTW). They were very juicy. Not as smokey as I like, but very good. The brisket was amazing. Really

Stopped in on a road trip and was looking for some local Q. The staff was friendly and prices were very fair. I had the kids along and there were solid options.
We had the BBQ nachos and rib plate with a side of brisket. The meats were all tender and we'll seasoned. I had a moist cut of brisket which was juicy and had nice bark.
The ribs were also quite good. The biggest letdown was the sauce which had only a me flavor-sweet. The sauce hurt everything, so skip it and just enjoy the meats.
The slaw was also good with a fresh crunch and nice tang without a ton of mayo.

Wonderful restaurant and great staff. My family and I are traveling the mid west and happened to stop here while passing through Nebraska. Our waitress Taylor was very kind and told us a bunch of cool places we should stop on our way through the state. The food was quick and delicious, I really recommended the Mac & Meat if you plan on stopping here. Well worth stopping to eat here if you're hungry! :)

My sister and I absolutely love EJ's! We particularly enjoy their brisket sandwich with waffle fries. In fact, I have never liked waffle fries anywhere else, but sister talked me into trying the ones she got and they're unbelievably good -- crispy on the outside and tender in the middles of each grid. The regular french fries are good too, and so is the bar-b-que chicken sandwich. Portions are generous in size, and the people there make sure to take care of you if you've got any allergies (which I do). Holy molee!! This place is one of the BEST BBQ joints I have ever been to, and Ive been to a lot of such joints featured on TV shows. Aesthetically it is nothing to look at...an old Mexican dive reincarnated. But the food is just amazing. It is almost bizarre such good and imaginative BBQ can be found in such a town in the middle of nowhere of the Nebraska panhandle. But, there it is! This is worth making a trip for to be honest.

My wife and I were rolling through town on a trip to Mount Rushmore. Great little town and an awesome restraunt. The food and beer menu was rock solid and the staff was very friendly and on their game. The place was packed, but the food came out in great time. If we lived near by, it'd be a favorite.
