Services
TRE Environmental Strategies, LLC. is a small environmental consulting firm and laboratory that utilizes established scientific procedures and assessment methods to provide clients with accurate results and forward-thinking solutions to meet compliance and regulatory obligations.

Our staff includes experts with advanced science degrees who capitalize on decades of experience to manage complex issues in environmental toxicology, ecology, and water resources.
TRE was established in 2014 and is located in Fort Collins, along the vibrant Front Range of Colorado. Formerly a division of a larger company, TRE was founded to enable its group of trained and degreed scientists and technicians to continue with their mission of providing high-quality services to clients in the areas of ecotoxicology, biological assessment, data analysis, environmental fate and effects, and water resource evaluation.
Developing a thorough understanding of the issues associated with the presence of contaminants in the environment can be a complex process requiring the integration of numerous elements. These may include laboratory or in situ toxicity tests, ecological community studies, environmental chemistry data, fate and effects assessments and/or process engineering evaluations.
Discharges to receiving waters in the United States are regulated through the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) or state equivalent. Under the NPDES program, Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) tests are used to measure compliance with toxicological limits in permits. With experience in a vast array of U.S. EPA standardized test protocols, TRE assists its private and public sector clients in meeting their regulatory obligations.
By employing a structured, tiered approach of manipulation using various physical, chemical and even biological treatments, the cause or causes of toxicity in an effluent sample are determined in a toxicity identification evaluation (TIE). Although TIE methods were originally developed as forensic tools for use with toxic effluents, the procedures have proven invaluable in a variety of situations and discharge conditions.
