This hotel is in the process of updating/renovating. The upstairs hallway was beautiful, renovated rooms were nice, but the pool area, boardwalk, and exterior were old and dilapidated. No elevator, and hallways were like a maze trying to find places. Said hot breakfast when we made reservation, but it was wrapped muffins and cereal. Biggby Coffee is going in the lobby, but was not open yet when we were there. Which is probably why breakfast is no longer in the website. The outdoor deck are had a wedding, so we were not able to even enjoy the lake view from there. Definitely not worth the money

The owner has done an excellent job with the interior room and hallway renovations completed to date. Our room was in excellent shape, roomy and clean with nice view of bay. Exterior 2nd floor patio renovation would be a welcome enhancement. Overall nice place to stay when traveling through the UP or visiting the area. Attached restaurant is excellent plus. Could upgrade internet bandwidth (pages very slow to load and frequently unavailable) and AC units work well but on the loud side when it turns on and off interrupting light sleepers. Overall 4 out of 5, better than many.

Location is nice,Hotel needs lots of fixing up and maintenance. The room was half way clean, sheets and linens where smelling of bleach.
Shower was very dated with small tub.I had to duck into the shower where the shower head "pointed upright" was to my shoulder.
Hopefully This Placed Will Be Rescued Soon
It's A Great Location

This is a motel not a hotel... it is definitely not a 3-star but a 1-star or no more than 2. The advised photos were just lies. Only a few units that are remodeled and when we asked for it during an off season, non-weekend, and pandemic times when not a lot of people traveling, the unfriendly staff told us it was not available without even trying to check. The room was filthy, full of aged dirts, hairs at bathroom, bed, basically everywhere and lots of bugs. The room also stinks and everything just looks extremely old. I have never had such a terrible experience with almost any hotel I have ever

Very disappointing. Not AT ALL like it's advertised on the web. Our "lake view suite" was basically clean, but very dated and the upholstery smelled. The view was mostly of our car in front of the room, the parking lot and untrimmed brush. Lake was there in the background. Exterior maintenance very poor. The place has tons of potential and was probably very nice at some point. But it shows obvious signs of neglect and is definitely not worth the $175/night that we're paying. And no maid service...not even clean towels

We decided to stop here as part of our road trip, but when we got to our rooms we realized we paid 130$ per night per room for a scam. The photos that the hotel posts are completely different from the reality, we had 2 very old room, stinking of cigarettes really bad, and there were hairs in the shower. The front desk lady was very nice at giving us a refund, but we still had to drive 2h at night for the next available hotel and completely destroyed our vacation plans. Avoid this place.

Very disappointed. The " suite " was the highest priced room with no patio or chairs, dirty carpet, old poor fitting curtains, and no where close to renovated. Would have been better off somewhere else.

This wasn't at all like the website portrayed it. It looked very nice with beach access in the photos. My "lake view" room had two small windows with a distant/loose view of the marshy parts of Lake Michigan, with no actual access. Also included in the view were two dumpsters, one for hot grease and the other for garbage from the restaurant. Staff was outside constantly smoking and gathering. This place seemed super dated and low budget, while still charging a lot. There wasn't a sheet on the hide a bed. Our bathroom was dirty and old. The toilet and shower stained and gross

Easy to find right off the main road in Gladstone. The restaurant there was top notch. Friendly staff, good food and beautiful views. We had a room with a lake view and the lake view was the highlight. They have done some remodeling but there is a lot that needs to be done. Our mattresses seemed to be from the 1960s. And the pillows were hard foam. Nothing deluxe there. On a positive note the room was clean. I would say it is a diamond in the rough. I thought the room didn't reflect the cost of the price.

A bit pricey even for the luxury rooms. Pictures look nice but smaller than you would think. Beds were comfy. New remodels are clean. We did have to ask for daily cleaners to sweep the room after the first night. Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful with local
Ideas for our younger kids. They even made a fresh pot of lobby coffee when we got back at 6pm one long day. We had lake view which was very refreshing. Pool was fun for the kids and always had plenty of towels. Pool area has amazing views with plenty of seating. Hot tub and sauna were dated but functional. Continental

Easy to find on Highway 2 just north of Escanaba, MI. We enjoyed it so much on our way through town we came back on our way home. Great friendly service, clean rooms, comfy beds, easy to access rooms. Loved our view of the lake!

This place doesn't look like much from the outside as you drive up...but looks are deceiving. The rooms are nice...not fancy but clean with walkout balconies about 100 yards from the water. Incredible views. even though I was there in winter... I could see the nice pool area gym. The
restaurant surprised the hell out of me. Usually, hotel restaurants aren't all that great...but this one was SUPURB. As good as restaurants I have eaten at in Beverly Hills. Service was spot on and was bowled over by the fresh seafood and creativity of the chef...who I tracked down and complimented. all

Clean, well located place. Opens right on the lake so beautiful views. Went for fall colors and found a beautiful foliage right outside the hotel. Indoor pool and sauna helped us relax after the long drive.

The continental breakfast is not exactly grand but you have your basic stuff. Also it's well located to Escanaba downtown so really easy to get all kinds of food.

This motel does a terrific job of ensuring it looks better online than reality! Right down to calling it a hotel....

Room was clean but smells of stale smoke & in desperate need of updating. Last updated in early 90's at best. Quite a distance from downtown core so no nearby options for food unless you want to eat at the tavern or are ok with driving 5-10 min back to town.

Friendly staff - both at check-in and housekeeping. Very nice location on Little Bay de Noc Lake Michigan.

After spending the morning/afternoon on Mackinac Island, we ended up staying here at night. The hotel was certinally busy, but luckily at check in we were told they only had one room left...thank you...and for about $115 per night.

Room was clean, had a very slight musty odor..but looked fairly nice. I turned the air on..it was loud upon starting up and i feared it would not cool the room but after a bit of time there was no doubt it worked just fine.

Major gripe is that when taking

We were really just looking for a place to stay overnight halfway between Sault Ste. Marie and Milwaukee, but we got quite a bit more.

The hotel part of the operation is a 1950s-era building that's had lots of updates over the decades. Be sure to read the history of the place in the lobby. It ain't the Overlook Hotel from The Shining, but there are some interesting things in its past.

Based on some reviews, there must be some pretty hard-used rooms.
But we ended up in what we later learned was one of just two rooms that have recently been remodeled. Between the decor and the view

Disrepair and dirty. Check out my pics. Front of the dresser drawer was falling off, chair is shredded, fridge and microwave plugged into an extension cord and hair in the sink. Awful. When I told the woman working the front desk she made a list and said she'd have maintenance look into it. No apology, not further discussion to be had. I don't know how this place has such high ratings! We didn't even feel comfortable enough with the bathroom cleanliness to shower.

This is a hidden gem! It is an older property but it's clean and they are keeping it up. The rooms are sound proof, not like other hotels where the noise in the halls or adjoining rooms keep you awake. There is a big, deep pool for the kids to swim in. The pool room is surrounded by glass so the adults have a beautiful view of the lake. There is also a nice patio area with a fountain overlooking the lake. The lounge is great and it's where we would have spent time if we did not have the kids with us. The restaurant has good food. The continental breakfast is served until 11 am! It has
