In 1997, we took our first steps to start our construction company. I had just finished 10 years in the United States Army, where my family traveled from North Carolina, to Italy and upstate New York. I was born in Benton, Arkansas, into a family of home builders. So, when I decided to get out of the Army, I moved my family to Arkansas.
I first worked for two local builders in the Maumelle and Chenal areas of Little Rock and North Little Rock. After nearly two years of working under these local builders, and with the confidence I had acquired from the rigorous training while in the military (Basic Training, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, and Ranger School, to name a few), I was eager to break out on my own.
